. Glenelg Catholic Parish 21st April 2019 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord He is Risen, Alleluia Welcome to this most Holy day, that sees our Saviour rise again. It is a day to celebrate, to remember that by Christs own actions of dying and rising again we have been given the promise of eternal life. Our sins are washed clean by his blood and we are invited to share in the Divinity of our God. Over the five weeks of Lent we were invited to reflect on our lives, on how we might convert to become more Christlike, to develop and deepen our relationship with Jesus. On Thursday night we celebrated the Mass of the Last Supper and on Friday, we walked with Jesus to his death. These are Solemn and Sombre occasions but today is truly a day to rejoice, today we are made worthy, not by our own actions but by the great sacrifice made for us by one who loved us so much. All over the world today, people are celebrating Easter, gathering as families and sharing in chocolate eggs. Many of these people have no idea that the eggs that they are buying or receiving are actually a symbol of new life, today is merely a public holiday weekend. Others who may not normally attend Sunday Eucharist are drawn to attend today and you are most welcome. Today is indeed a day to celebrate, today hope was born into our world and we are made new in Christ. However, amidst our celebration we most never forget the horror that went before this day. It is only in the contemplation of the sacrifice that was made for us, Jesus died for my sins and yours, that we can truly appreciate the beauty of today. Araceli, Paula and myself would like to wish each one of you a Happy Easter, we would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support of us over this time of Fr Anthonys illness. We would especially like to thank Fr. John Stuart-James, who has made the pastoral care and sacramental life of this parish a priority in his life since Fr. Anthonys illness. Have a wonderful Easter celebration today and remember we do it all again next Sunday. God Bless and have a truly blessed Easter. Orla Wright, Pastoral Associate

Lord

He is Risen, Alleluia

Welcome to this most Holy day, that sees our Saviour rise again. It is a day to celebrate, to remember that by Christs own actions of dying and rising again we have been given the promise of eternal life. Our sins are washed clean by his blood and we are invited to share in the Divinity of our God. All over the world today, people are celebrating Easter, gathering as families and sharing in chocolate eggs. history, the black triangle represents the prior

obscurantism , while red is symbolic of the struggle for

liberation, and the white star is symbolic of peace.

The Brighton, Hallett Cove, Glenelg, and St Anns Parishes East Timor Seminarian Sponsorship Programme committee thanks our Parish communities for the continued financial support given to the programme during the past few years. Since the programme was started in 2009, we have supported a great number of seminarians and their families. During the past few years we have sponsored 74 seminarians per year in the three seminaries in Dili.

However , the financial position of the programme this year will only allow the sponsorship of 13 seminarians in each of the Minor, Propaedeutic and Major seminaries. That is, a total of 39 seminarians.

While we are saddened by this position, we are comforted by the fact that we are still making a difference in the future of many seminarians whose families struggle to support them in their journey to realise their hopes and dreams of serving their communities as deacons and priests. We are delighted to receive this expression of gratitude from Luis Pedro Claver, now an ordained Priest, for our support during his journey.

Dear Fr John Herd and Parishioners in Adelaide, First, I would like to say thank you for Fr. John Herd and all parishioners in Adelaide,

because through your help to arrange my school fees during five year, I am achieving my vision to be a priest.. I was ordained last year in June 2018 and now, I am working in the

Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Baucau diocese. I am assistant priest.. My grateful thanks for everyone who spent their time and money to accompany my vocation to be a priest. I think especially of you Adelaide parishioners; your kindness is enormous. I will

never have enough to say through my words. I am very grateful for you because my family did not have the capacity to pay for me. You are always in my mass and prayer.

God bless you all Yours sincerely, Fr. Luis Pedro Claver

There are several other seminarians whom we have sponsored and have progressed from the minor and propaedeutic seminaries to the major seminary, to the completion of their studies and through to their chosen vocation, to make a difference in their communities.

The committee thanks you for the financial support you given to the programme and we invite you to continue your generous support for th.e seminarians and their families in East Timor to enable them to make a difference in their communities.
