Dates to Remember Dear parents, 2020 Enrolments – As you may have heard in the media, public schools are facing increasing enrolments – and this is a good thing. At the end of 2018 we did ask that parents to let us know if they knew of anyone coming to enrol at GPS or leaving GPS. Unfortunately, as we did not know some of this information we had difficulty with forming this year’s classes. We are asking that all parents who would like to enrol their children in Kindergarten at GPS, in 2019 contact the school and complete the paperwork to enable us to save your child a place. Further information can be given by our helpful office staff. Unfit for School – Sometimes students will attend their doctor and the doctor will issue a medical certificate stating that the child is ‘Unfit for school’ on a certain day or days. If your child is issued a certificate like this, please DO NOT bring them to school as they should not be here and will not be permitted to go to class! Toilet improvements – the new soap dispensers have now been installed in the toilet blocks and, in an attempt to brighten up the toilets, all students are invited to participate in a ‘design-a-toilet door’ competition. Details are included in this newsletter. Dates to Remember

Dear parents,

2020 Enrolments – As you may have heard in the media, public schools are facing increasing enrolments – and this is a good thing.

Have a good week,

Library News

Welcome back to Term 3!

Term 3 is a BIG term in the library – we have the book club, the Book fair, an Author visit and the Book Parade!

The theme for this year’s book week is: Reading is my Super Power. The possibilities are endless!

In Week 3 we have an author coming to visit our school – this is a free event and all students are encouraged to go. James O’Loghlin has been seen on the ABC as well as writing a number of children’s books.

There is only 4 weeks left of the Premier’s Reading Challenge!!!

Positive Parenting Sessions Do you want to feel more confident as a parent?

Do you ever wonder how other parents deal with the issues you are facing?

Come and join us!

Last term we discussed:

• how to teach children new skills and behaviours • managing mistaken behaviours • helpful websites for resources and information

Making children resilient and being the best parent we can be, is not easy. Joining a group like this and having other people to talk to can make the difficulties feel more manageable.

This term the sessions will continue. Please add these dates to your calendar.

When: Monday Week 3 5th August

Monday Week 6 26th August

Monday Week 9 16th September

Time: 9:30am after the whole school assembly

Where: AV room (on the ramp near the library)

Topics: When kids won’t co-operate, setting effective limits and any other topics requested by the group.

Ms Summerrell will meet you after the whole school assembly. Coffee and biscuits will be available.

EVENING SESSIONS- INTEREST SLIP

During Term 3 evening sessions may run. Please return this slip to the front office if you are interested in attending an evening session. If people are interested, dates will be confirmed. Sessions will run for 1 hour. Please tick one or both.
