Dates to Remember Dear parents, Leadership Day Report – on Monday of this week a number of our senior students went to Sydney to hear a number of prominent people talking about a range of matters, including leadership. Mrs Colefax and Miss Simmonds accompanied the students and as always were very proud of the way the students conducted themselves during the day. Thank you to all students who attended – we look forward to seeing some of the things that were spoken about being put into action! Concert 2019 The topic of our 2019 concert was discussed at our school leadership meeting on Monday of this week. Essentially, the room we used to use at RHRSL is not available to us this year and the newly-built facility that is being built for performances will also not be available until next year. We have previously had reports that clearly showed that venues close by could not accommodate two shows of 600 people. We looked at venues as far away as the Hills, Blacktown and Penrith. Whilst there were venues that would allow us to provide for our students and audiences, the cost would have seen us needing to charge close to $25 per ticket and the distance to the venues was such that we may not have a lot of students participating (led to a loss of funds for the school). Therefore, whilst it is extremely disappointing to announce this, we will NOT be holding a concert in 2019. We deeply regret to have to take this step but there is, unfortunately, no alternative for us. We trust all parents will understand that we made every effort to seek out alternative venues and it is simply not possible. Towards the end of 2019 we will begin talking with the management of the new Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre with the intent of booking our 2020 concert. Scripture Note – All students will bring home a note about Special Religious Education. Please complete ONE NOTE FOR EACH OF YOUR CHILDREN attending GPS and have your child return his/her note to their classroom teacher. Kindergarten Morning Assemblies – thank you to the many parents who visit our school each morning. Every Monday we have our main assembly and all parents are very welcome to attend. On our normal Tuesday to Friday mornings, Kindergarten students will continue going to their rooms when the music plays (approximately 8.58am). We need the cooperation of all adults to say goodbye before the music begins and to move away from the gate near the library. Kindergarten children are fine with being independent and walking to class – they really do like being like ‘grown-ups’. Dates to Remember

Dear parents,

Leadership Day Report – on Monday of this week a number of our senior students went to Sydney to hear a number of prominent people talking about a range of matters, including leadership.

Special Message:

Each year 1,700 public school children in need go to Stewart House from many parts of NSW and the ACT. During their stay, children are provided with optical, dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs and out of school activities to boost self-esteem and to promote a healthier lifestyle.

At G.P.S we have had a number of students throughout the years attend Stewart House.

This Term, we have chosen to fundraise for Stewart House. Envelopes will go home on Thursday asking for your support. Any donation is appreciated and will go to helping to support students during their stay.
