Instructions for Online Entry into Tournaments

If you have not used the online entry system before, you require to go to the tournamentsoftware.com site and "Sign Up" (for free) and follow the instructions. These are fairly easy to follow but if you have any problems the following is a summary of what is required:-

Sign Up, set up a user name and password along with your details, name address, date of birth, gender, email address, etc. Once you have registered you will be asked to "activate" your account by clicking on the "activation" link on an email that tournamentsoftware sends to your email address. When your account is activated you should "login" and edit your "Profile" by inputting the required information in the different fields of the topics "Personal Details", "Contact Details", which requires at least one phone number, and "Sport Details", which requires you to select your sport (Badminton) and you must enter a "Strength" in singles and doubles. Any "Strength" can be selected say "A". This is used in other countries where the tournaments have different "Strengths" for events within their tournaments. Your member id. is not required at present since the online entry system will allocate a member id. to your entry but you have to enter the club/school name through which you are affiliated to your National body or type "Individual" if you are affiliated as an individual. This information is stored as your profile and used each time you enter a tournament online.

Once you have registered and are logged in on tournamentsoftware.com, go to the tournament and follow the online entry instructions to enter the tournament and pay online. Contact Jim McCulloch if you require further information.

General Secretary's Report Congratulations to all the clubs and individuals that had a successful season in 2018/19.

The number of member clubs in the Association has fallen to 12 with Westside B C withdrawing from all Leagues. However, the University of Glasgow has added a second Mixed team. There are 2 Divisions totalling 11 teams in the Mixed League, 3 divisions totalling 13 teams in the Gents League and 2 Ladies teams incorporated into the Gents 3rd Division making the Gents up to 15 in the Leagues.

Please note that score sheets are not colour coded this season and they are all plain paper. The amended Rules for “Emergency” registrations have been incorporated on the score sheets. These must be returned to the Divisional Secretary within 3 days. Please also note that, to help the Divisional Secretaries, the sheets should be completed neatly with the scores of the completed games and the totals, points and games, completed. It is acceptable for the signed score sheets to be e-mailed (check the scanned copy is legible) to the Divisional Secretary where they have a published e-mail address. These are given in the Divisional Secretaries Page of the Handbook (Page 4). The league tables and results will be published on League Republic and it would be helpful if match secretaries updated their results on this system.

The Executive Committee has again arranged the dates for the first ties in the Trophy/Cup matches. Please try to play these matches on the dates arranged. Other matches have to be agreed between the clubs as before, i.e. home club to offer two dates clear of any Churches fixtures. Please note that both home and away teams receive a score sheet and both are to be returned to the Trophy Secretary.

With respect to the tournaments run by the Association, these were all very successful with several new winners. This season the senior events will again be run in two age groups over 40 and over 50, subject to sufficient entries in each age group. Please take full advantage of the low fees by entering the tournaments and take part in these enjoyable events! The online entry facility on tournamentsoftware.com will again be used for all the tournaments run by the Association.

There was no Annual Presentation Dance, held this year due to lack of interest

I would like everyone to note the website address for the Association and it is continuing with the Constitution and Rules, the handbook, fixtures, league tables, results, some history of the Association and information for clubs wishing to join.

NOTES ON ALL TROPHY COMPETITIONS

1. A collection for charity must be taken at all Swan and Jack ties. Jubilee matches are free to make a donation if they wish. Clubs who concede or are given a walkover are asked to make a donation to charity. This money to be sent as soon as possible to the General Secretary.

2. First ties have been arranged by the Executive Committee as shown on the previous pages. The home club must contact the away club to confirm time and location the tie is to be played.

3. When a tie has to be played by a specific date, the home club must contact the away club and offer two dates for playing the tie. The dates offered must be clear of opponent's fixtures as published in the handbook and must be given at least 10 days prior to the first date offered. Failure to offer two dates or to accept one or the dates may result in disqualification.

4. Score sheets must be sent to the General Secretary within 3 days of the match.
