With Keshava as the helmsman, verilywas crossed by the Pandavas, the battleriver whose banks were Bhishma andDrona, whose water was Jayadratha, whose blue lotus was the king of

Gandhara, whose crocodile was Salya, whose current was Kripa, whose billowwas Karna, whose terrible alligators were

Ashvattama and Vikarna, whosewhirlpool was Duryodhana.

May this lotus of the Mahabharata, born in the lake of the words of Vyasa, sweet with fragrance of the meaning ofthe Gita, with many stories as itsstamens, fully opened by thediscourses on Hari, the destroyer ofthe sons of the Kali age, and drunk

joyously by the bees of good men inthe world, day by day become thebestower of good to us.

I salute that Madhava, the source of supremebliss, whose grace makes the dumb maneloquent and the cripple cross mountains.

Salutations to that God, WhomBrahma, Varuna, Indra, Rudraand the Maruts praise with divinehymns, of Whom the Sama-chanters sing by the Vedas andtheir Angas, in the Pada and theKrama methods, and by theUpanishads, Whom the Yogins

see with their minds absorbed inHim through meditation, andwhose end the hosts of Devasand Asuras know not.
