Self-priming centrifugal pumps J SERIES

J pumps are self-priming centrifugal pumps with open impeller handling large diameter solids and

replaceable wear plates. They have easily opened inspection covers and externally lubricated mechanical seals.

convenientpositionforinspectionandmaintenance.

Longlife.Thepartssubjecttowearcanbeeasilyreplacedoneormoretimestorestoretheoriginalperformance.

Jpumpsareusedwhenoneormoreofthefollowingarerequired: self-priming solidshandling resistancetoabrasionJpumpscanhandleliquidsuptoaviscosityofabout50mm2/s(cSt).

Self-priming principleAir(whitearrows)isdrawnintothepumpbythevacuum

producedastheimpellerrotatesandisemulsionedwiththe

liquid(bluearrows)containedinthepumpcasing.Theair/

liquidmixtureisdrivenintotheprimingchamberwherethe

air,whichislessdense,separatesoutandventsthroughthe

deliverylinewhiletheliquid,duetothehigherdensity,falls

backandisrecirculated.Whenalltheairhasbeenevacuated

fromthesuctionline,thepumpprimesand

operatedlikeanormalcentrifugalpump.Itcanalsohandle

amixtureofairandliquid.Thecheckvalvemountedinthe

pumpsuctionportservestwopurposes:itpreventstheliquid

fromdrainingoutofthesuctionlinewhenthepumpisnot

inoperation,andifthesuctionlineisdrainedbyaccident,

enoughliquidisretainedinthepumpcasingforthepumpto

reprime.Thedeliverylinemustallowtheairdrawnfromthe

suctionlinetoventtoatmosphere.

TheJV(Fast)seriescomprisestheJ40,J50,J3-140andJ90-4modelswhicharemainlyusedinindustry,andtheJ90-2andJ120-2whichareusedinconstruction.Theportsrangefrom11/2to5.Close-coupledversionsuse2polemotorswhilepedestalversionscanbecoupledtovarioustypesofmotors.Castironcasings(G).Certainmodelsareavailablewithbronze(B)orstainlesssteel(K)casings.
