DESCRIPTION
GIA Newsletter for July 2011
Citation preview
JULY 2011
Giovani Italiani Australia (GIA) is the national federation of youth clubs, groups and organisations that promote Italian language and culture to young people in Australia.
Every year we organise a major national forum in an Australian capital city. In 2011 the Forum will be held in Melbourne from the 25th to the 27th of November 2011.
We also increase communication opportunities for our member organisations to promote their events, announcements and messages to young Italians in Australia.
Becoming a member organisation of GIA is completely free and painless to achieve. All you need to do is complete the online member
organisation registration form, available at www.gia.org.au and your organisation will be linked in to the national network!
This newsletter is published over the first weekend of every month and is our main form of communicating national events and initiatives to our member organisations and their subscribers.
If you have an event you would like to be published in our monthly newsletter, email it through to us at [email protected] and we’ll make sure that it’s published in the next newsletter edition as well as on our website!
Buon lavoro tutti!

VUOI AIUTARE I GIOVANI ITALIANI?

Federica Cologni - Organising Committee, Melbourne Forum 2011
Federica discussed the work of GIA’s committee organising the Melbourne Forum and what we hope to achieve this year at the Forum.
Italian language and culture among young people will be an important part of the Forum this year. Federica discussed the broad support we have received for the Forum, including the patronage of the Consul General of Italy to Melbourne.
Ciao a tutti!
My name is Romina and I am a student from Germany who spent one year studying in Australia. As I have a German mother and an Italian father. I was very interested in the situations of the young Italian-Australians here and how they feel about Italian culture in their lives and especially about the language.
Thus I have been working on a research project and am doing a survey on language attitudes that Italian-Australians have towards both their families’ languages and probably their native tongue: Australian English.
If you would like to participate in this project, please follow this link to complete an online-survey:
https://corpora-engling.split.uni-bamberg.de/limesurvey/index.php?sid=71789&lang=en
All participants may enter a prize draw to win a 25$ gift voucher for MYER.
Thank you very much and I am looking forward to get a lot of interesting answers!
Un caro saluto,
Romina
