The holiday season may be a time for rejoicing with our own family, but many GFC clients struggle with the harsh weather. Waiting for buses outdoors, walking to work, waiting in line for food or shelter challenge even the hardiest souls. Through our flu clinics and medical sites, GFC aims to reduce respiratory illnesses. Our mobile unit distributes hats, scarves, gloves, socks, hygiene items and holiday treats to ease the difficulties of the season. When available

He came to GFC because his blood pressure

medicine had run out. After his exam and medicine refills, he

mentioned his feet were hurting. We offered to

take a look and he took off his well worn socks. His nails were long overdue a trimming and he pointed to his left great toe as the trouble spot. The other nails were trimmed and

then the ingrown great toe nail became the focus. It was tender, but when we

relieved pressure from the ingrown nail and then removed the ingrown section, he jumped for

joy—literally. Giggling, this grown man ran up and down the hall like a

little boy trying out a new pair of shoes.

After a thorough search, GFC announces Theresa Patterson as our new executive director. Her first day will be December 2, 2019. Theresa brings a set of skills that touches many of the key needs of Gennesaret, which includes being a registered nurse, in-depth understanding of the healthcare market, strong business acumen, experience running clinics, planning and executing fundraising, and being a servant leader. Theresa chose to pursue the executive director role because she is drawn to the mission of Gennesaret and is excited to learn more about, and support, the people we serve and their needs. She has incredible drive and passion, and desires to do something more meaningful in her career, tapping into both her clinical and business strengths. Before joining Gennesaret, Theresa served as the CEO of Verve Health, located in Carmel. Verve Health provides onsite healthcare and data driven programs for employers. She started her career as a registered nurse at Community East and before joining Verve Health spent time volunteering at her

sleeping bags and tarps make their way to the neediest ones. We accept gently used condition winter coats, boots and other protective winter wear. Recently, a women donated a winter coat to GFC. Within minutes of starting our medical session, a young woman ,wearing only a blanket, asked if we had any warm coats. It fit her perfectly.

In the winter months, socks, hats, gloves, scarves, pocket warmers and large size coats are especially needed. 2) Volunteer physicians and dentists—consider

asking your own physician/dentist to volunteer. We thank our long-time GFC leaders John Asbury, Dr. Daniel Gelfman, Dr. Robin Ledyard, and Linda Wilgus who now leave our Board of Directors.
