GeTIN2Academy Course Information

TIN Arts is an innovative organisation that creates, delivers and manages participatory arts and culture programmes for people of all ages and abilities across the North East of England.

About TIN Arts Since 1999, we have been working tirelessly to create, deliver and manage participatory arts and cultural activities for individuals and groups across the North East of England. Over that period we have worked with over 60,000 people and delivered at least 10,000 workshops while constantly striving to make arts and culture accessible to the community, reaching and engaging people of all backgrounds and abilities. From April 2012, TIN Arts will become a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England funding to deliver an Inclusive Dance Offer for Durham. TIN Arts are widely acknowledged as a leading inclusive dance organisation in the North East.

About the GeTIN2… courses

GeTIN2... are a series of arts courses specifically created for people with a learning disability.

The courses have been delivered successfully in the North East of England since 2008.

The GeTIN2Academy is created specifically for those young people with a learning disability aged between 18 – 25 years. The course has been designed to support the transition from school to community-based activity and acts as an introduction to the arts. The course covers a range of artforms including Dance, Drama and Music and allows time and space for each participant to find their talent before looking at progression options onto other GeTIN2… courses. All courses run one day a week for 36 weeks of the year (3 terms of 12 weeks).

How to join

All GeTIN2… courses are ‘pay to attend’. Most people can afford to meet the cost of attending through Direct Payments. That means that a person attending may have a direct payment to pay for their place on the course.
