    How it wor k s

The optimal experience for carsharing is being

able to rent a car when you need one. Instant

allows renters to book a car and unlock it

with their smartphone. We currently have an

iPhone app thats customized for the renterexperience. Owner management features

will continue to improve with app updates.

Our entire site is mobile browser friendly

and we have an Android app coming soon!

    More here: Getaround.com/iPhone.

Set your cars weekly schedule to hold recurring

times you use your car. Keeping your cars

availability up-to-date is importantif your car is

listed as available, renters will be able to book it

instantly. Outside of your weekly schedule, if you

need to use your car, block off the date on the

    monthly calendar.

Youll receive notifications when your car is

booked and returned according to your account

settings. We recommend messaging your renters

with any details youd like to emphasize (learn

    more in Communication and Community).

Pro tip: Check on your car often. Email us at

[email protected] if gas was not refilled or if

there are any issues with the car condition.

Cars with great profiles get more rentals. Refer

to the following guide when setting up your car

profile and managing your carsharing experience.

PricingWe will set your cars initial pricing based on our

experience and current market rates. You can

update your cars rates at any time.

    Photography

You can upload up to ten exterior and interior

photos of your car. Photos should prominently

feature your well lit and clean car, free of clutter

or distractions. We can photograph your car

    during Carkit installation.

    Description

Be sure to mention benefits, extra features, thedriving experience, any applicable restrictions,

and anything renters should know before

    booking.

    Car instructions

Instructions are sent privately after a rental

is booked. Clearly explain pickup and return

instructions with location and parking details.

    Access & availability

Use your car when you want. Set a weekly

schedule or use our monthly calendar to block

off dates your car isnt available. If your parking

location is only accessible during certain hours,we can set this for you.

    Weekly calendar

Any time blocked off on your weekly calendar

will repeat every week. For example, if you drive

to yoga every Monday morning, you can block

that time off for every Monday going forward.

    Monthly calendar

For one-time events or spontaneous driving,

use the monthly calendar to block off dates you

would like to use your car. Once youre done

using your car, you can unblock the rest of theday to make it available for rentals. This can be

done through your phone or internet browser.

    Availability

You need to keep your cars availability up to date

and maintain 50% or more availability including

weekends. We ask that you do your best to honor

all bookings (read our cancellation policy for theamount of notice you need to give to cancel)

and make sure your calendar is blocked off if

youre using your car. If you dont do this, youll

be responsible for covering the replacement car

and any other associated re-booking costs.

    Maintenance

You are responsible for keeping your car in good

operating condition. Maintenance should be up

to date. Make sure all parts are in good condition,

especially the tires. Your car will need more

    frequent maintenance while shared.

Things to keep in your car

We equip your car with some swag to add some

Getaround charm and comforts. This includes

exterior stickers, key chain, air freshener, and

visor organizer. You can add notes in the visor

organizer for your renters. Well print your

insurance card and place it in the visor. If you ever

need to re-print it visit getaround.com/autoid.

    Getaround Carkit

The Getaround Carkit is an access and security

system we developed for carsharing. The Carkit

enables the renter to lock and unlock the car. The

Carkit can securely track the location of your car, allow us to charge for additional mileage, and

ensure no one other than approved renters and

    you can drive your car.

    Battery

The Carkit receives power from your cars battery.

Driving your car a few times a week will recharge

the Carkit and your car battery to a healthy level.

If your car is not driven regularly, your car battery

may die and require a jump. Well test your cars

battery health when we install the Carkit and

inform you if you need a new battery.

    Enhanced Security

The Carkit provides an extra layer of security to

your car. When Enhanced Security is turned on

renters can only drive your car during a trip. Your

cars starter will automatically be disabled at the

end of each rental. Accessing your car using the

Carkit key on the app or website will enable the

    starter for your personal use.

    Dedicated parking

Dedicated parking makes for the most seamless

experience, as well as higher demand. Ideally, you

already have an accessible parking space. If not,

please try to find your own parking space. Thebest resources for this are Craigslist, Parkopedia,

and ParkMe. We may also be able to help find

parking and for a limited time we can cover part

of the parking cost. We provide branded signage.

    Street parking

If your neighborhood is relatively easy to street

park and you have a parking permit, street

parking is a great option. You should note

any parking restrictions in your instructions

(e.g. street cleaning) and keep in mind that

street-parked cars have a greater risk of tickets

and tows. You and your renters will be able to

locate your street parked car directly from theapp. If you or a partner would like to use your car,

you will have to turn off enhanced security.

Pro tip: Remind renters that they need to find a spot

thats safe for at least 24 hours. If you know of any

hidden gem parking spots in your neighborhood

you can list them in the instructions. You can offer

to park the car for the renter if they are in a pinch.

    Credit card

We require a valid credit card on your account

so we can process authorized charges. These

include a $20 monthly data connectivity charge

for your Carkit and parking (if applicable). If youever want to remove your Carkit or leave your

parking spot, a 30 day notice is required.

    Driver license

We process your driver license so you can rent

Getaround cars whenever you want. You will

    receive coupons for discounted rentals.

    Mobile number

Verify your phone number so you can receive

    SMS notifications and rental updates.

Payment methodChoose between PayPal or monthly checks

which are mailed to your address. Eventually we

    will offer direct bank deposit.

    Pay day

Rental earnings accrue throughout the month.

Payment is sent by the 15th of the next month.

Any reimbursements youre owed from the

previous month (e.g. a ticket or any gas refillsthat a renter neglected to pay) will be added.

    Commission

We take a 40% commission on rental earnings.

This enables us to cover costs like insurance,

roadside assistance, 24/7 customer support, and

    other operational costs.

    Tax

If you earn more than $600.00 in a year,

Getaround will issue a 1099 Form reporting

your rental and promotional revenue. While we

cannot offer tax advice, generally, if you use yourcar for both business (Getaround) and personal

use, car-related expenses may be deductible.

We encourage you to consult with a tax advisor

to determine the best tax treatment for your

    situation.

    Gas

Renters are required to replace any gas they use

during a rental. In the future we will offer a gas

solution so renters can pay for the gas they use

without a trip to the gas station and potentiallyoffer gas cards to ensure your gas tank is always

full. If you notice a renter did not replace gas they

used, email the receipt and the renters name to

[email protected] and well reimburse you.

Pro tip: Always keep your cars tank full so its easy

for renters to fill to the top and easy for you to track

it if they dont. We recommend reminding renters to

refill the tank before the end of their rental.

    Mileage

Renters are permitted to drive 200 miles per

day. For any additional mileage, youll receive 30cents per mile. You need to report overages to

[email protected], but in the near future well

be able to do this automatically.

    Tickets & tolls

Renters are responsible for tickets and tolls they

incur while renting your car, which includes pay-

by-plate systems like the Golden Gate Bridge

toll. If you receive a ticket in the mail, pleasepay it, send a photo of all pages of the ticket to

[email protected] and well reimburse you. If

the ticket is for a moving violation (e.g. running a

red light at a photo-enforced traffic intersection),

well sign an Affidavit of Non-Liability on your

behalf and reassign the ticket to your renter. A

renters violation should never affect your driving

    record or insurance.

    Communication

Getaround is a community and communication is

paramount. Weve often heard that people have

made great friends through Getaround. With

Instant, its a littler harder to make connectionssince you arent meeting in person, but that

    makes digital communication very important.

You can message your renters through the site

(we recommend this so there is a record in case

we need to mediate an issue), or you can reach

them via text or phone. Eventually you will be

able to manage rentals through the app. When

you engage with your renters, it reinforces the

feeling of community and reminds them that

youre an actual person, not a car rental agency.

Pro tip: Craft a welcome message to send to all

renters. For example: Thanks for renting my car!The car can be unlocked with the Getaround iPhone

app, by clicking the link in your confirmation email,

or by calling Getaround. The keys are in the sun

visor organizer. You are responsible for gas, so you

should find the tank FULL (let me know if its not)

and please refill it before you return the car. Enjoy!

    Growing the community

Imagine you are an entrepreneur with your

Getaround car as your business. We work to bring

demand to your car, but you should also promote

your car to attract new renters. Well give you acoupon code you can share with friends they

    will thank you for it!

Here are some ways to help spread the word:

Share your car listing and coupon code on social

networks like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc. Email your office or apartment building mailing

list that your car is available nearby

Impress your friends with how much youve

made sharing your car and what youre doing

    with it.

Demo the app in person at a cocktail party,

    restaurant, Meetup, you name it!

    Coverage

All cars on Getaround include primary insurance

during rentals which covers collision, liability,

damage, and theft up to $1M. You must have

your own insurance for when you drive. In the

future we may also offer you coverage that could

    replace your personal policy.

Our policy is provided by Fortune 500 insurance

carrier Assurant (NYSE: AIZ) and complies with all

state laws that ensure your safety and protection

while sharing your car. Where necessary, weve

helped pass personal carsharing legislation in

multiple states to make peer-to-peer carsharing

    a reality.

Pro tip: Getarounds insurance does not cover

personal valuables left in your car. We recommendremoving those when your car is available for

    rentals.

    Your insurance

    Getarounds coverage replaces your personal

auto insurance during an active Getaround trip,

during which both you and the renter are covered

by our policy. You need to maintain your personal

coverage to comply with state insurance law.

    Wear & tear

Keep in mind, small dings and dents are normal

wear and are not covered by insurance. If you

notice any damage after a rental that is not

normal wear, take photos and email them to

[email protected] before the start of your

    next rental.
