NUDE NATIONAL F OOD DAY GET YOUR KIDS READY FOR NATIONAL NUDE FOOD DAY 2014! Do you like to promote a rubbish free ‘nude food’ school lunch for your children? Then spread the word and get your child’s school involved in the ‘Nude Food’ movement with NUDE FOOD DAY 2014! This November, school children around the nation are encouraged to bring a healthy, rubbish free lunch to school and by doing so, win a share in over $5,000 worth of prizes! What is Nude Food Day? Essentially, kids bring their food – nude! This will reduce the amount of rubbish that goes into the bins, that goes into the ground, that pollutes our planet. This is an amazingly simple concept that really empowers the kids to create change, you will be amazed with how enthused they can become! Why? The day aims to educate parents, teachers and children about nutrition and the environment through a fun, interactive program that specifically ties in to the Australian Curriculum cross-curriculum priority area of Sustainability. When? Historically, Nude Food Day has been celebrated on a specified date, however this year (after listening to school’s feedback), we are promoting the event to run across any day in November (or all of the days in November if you wish)! How it works: Some schools run waste audits for each classroom and award prizes for the least amount of litter generated, whilst others run healthy cooking demonstrations or healthiest lunch competitions. There are no hard and fast rules; it is all just about teaching kids how their actions can directly impact their health and the environment. Schools are asked to register as participants at www.nudefoodday.com.au and in doing so can: Gain access to fantastic classroom resources for every year level, including lesson plans that directly tie in to the Australian Curriculum cross-curriculum priority area of Sustainability; Utilise the promotional materials for communicating the event to your school community; and Enter the Nude Food Day competition to share in over $5000 worth of prizes for your school. We encourage you to get in contact with your school’s Parents and Friends Committee, school council or teaching staff to get your child’s school involved in Nude Food Day 2014. What is Nude Food Day?
