Building Update with Gratitude Two weeks ago, we sent you an invitation to help us fur-nish the new building additions. I want to thank all of you who have sent in a donation for this great cause. When we designed the brochure, it was too complicated to go into the detailed costs of each item. However, because some people have asked about the actual costs of these needed items, our project manager has provided these estimates, which are pretty accurate at this stage. 1. Kitchen Cabinets, Appliances, etc.: $42,000 2. Audiovisual for Fellowship Hall and Conference
Rooms: $29,000 3. Office and Conference Rooms Tables, Chairs, Desks: $47,000 4. Landscaping $28,000 So far, we have received more than $18,000 in gifts, for which we are so grateful. Like many of you, I still need to send in my own contribution. So, it is not too late to con-tribute! The balance will be included in the loan we are taking on the building. OPENING DATE: We hope to move our offices to the new building during the last week of October. Therefore, with your patience, we hope to ‘open’ our office doors and social hall to our parishioners sometime in the first week of November. We will update you on an official ‘open house’ date soon. I remain so grateful to you and your generosity…all for the glory and honor of God, Fr. Jim Deiters
Oktoberfest: 2020...Modified We are modifying our Oktoberfest German dinner plans. We will still offer a fabulous German dinner via advance-sales, to-go orders with curbside pickup. However, due to the in-creased restrictions, we won't be able to offer an in-person din-ner. To-go dinner sales begin the weekend of Sept. 5-6. We will celebrate our 20th anniversary of Oktoberfest with: • To-go German dinner for individual or family • Big Otto and Lil Otto raffles • Online auction • Sponsorships and 20th Anniversary T-shirts Visit http://www.stclarechurch.org/ofest to donate or buy a T-shirt by September 13!
While this will be a modified Oktoberfest this year, we hope to be back next year -- bigger and better than ever!
“One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.” Proverbs 11:24

Save the Date! Our Prayer Service for Creation
and Pet Blessing on Sunday, Oct. 4 2 p.m. at the St. Clare Pavilion and Garden!
The Pet Blessing will conclude our observation of the Season of Creation, which runs from Sept. 1 (the Day of Prayer for Creation) to Oct. 4 (the Feast of St. Francis). The Season of Creation is a world-wide, ecumenical celebration of prayer and action to care for our common home. As Christ's disciples, we are caretakers and stewards of God's creation, and our well-being depends upon the health of our planet: "The climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all. At the global level, it is a complex system linked to many of the essential conditions for human life" (Pope Francis, Laudato Si', 23).
Season of Creation Gardening and Landscaping Photo Project
The theme for this year's Season of Creation is "Jubilee for the Earth." To celebrate a proper rela-tionship to work and rest, we invite parishioners to send pictures of their landscaping and garden-ing projects that many of you have been engaging in during this time of social distancing to Matt Flynn ([email protected]). If you would like, you may also submit a sentence or two about how you have grown or developed a deeper appreciation of creation. We will use these to create a video slideshow for our parishioners to see.

We Are Here For You!!! With the uncertainty related to COVID-19 in general and the start of school in particular, we want you to know: We Are Here for You! If you find that you need help in any way due to quarantined, at risk, or other circumstances, please contact the parish office or email Matt Flynn ([email protected]). We have volunteers who are willing and able to help with running errands and various tasks or to call you if you are lonely. If you are experiencing finan-cial hardship, contact our St. Vincent de Paul helpline (618-632-4270).
A Racial Harmony Committee The Diocese of Belleville is promoting the Racial Harmony Initiative to help Catholics better engage in honest dialogue about race, violence, and injustice. Please read the follow-ing article (www.ncronline.org/news/opinion/assumptions-white-privilege-and-what-we-can-do-about-it) by Fr. Bryan Massingale to prepare for the first meeting on Saturday, Sept. 12, 9:30-11am at St. Augustine's Parish Hall, 408 Reverend Joseph Brown, SJ Boulevard, (formerly "Columbia Place"), East St. Louis, IL 62205. RSVP to Wendy Fink at 722-5048 or [email protected]. Masks and RSVP are required.
Homebound Visitation Ministry Our parish is in need of more volunteers to visit homebound parishioners. These visits bring the parish to the sick/aged and shut ins and feed them spiritually and emotionally. Parishioners are uplifted knowing that they are still connected with and cared for by our faith community. Home visits are in demand and are taking place with close adherence to safe practices to prevent the transmission of COVID. In addition, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion can bring the Eucharist to homebound parishioners and residents of Nursing Homes/Skilled Care Centers and Retirement Communities (facility vis-its are currently suspended). Volunteers for this ministry will receive proper, supportive training. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact Dan Kimutis at [email protected].
Homebound Visitation Ministry (II) Please call the parish office or e-mail [email protected] if you have a family member that is homebound, in a nursing home, or in the hospital and would like their name included in the bulletin. Please also contact the office or Marcia if you would like your family member or parishioner friend min-istered to, including having Holy Communion brought to them.
Hope for the Journey Wednesday, September 30 (2:00 & 7:00 pm)
