GEOMETRY OF 2 D
SHAPES Two dimensional shapes can be various polygons or
more complex shapes. The perimeter of each can be
found along with the area of each.
Perimeter of 2D figures • The perimeter of any two- dimensional shape can
be found by adding all the dimensions of the outer
sides. o We do not include any of the sides of the shape that are inside for
perimeter because perimeter measures the distance around the outsides
of the shape—units are being added so our final answer is in units.
Area of 2D figures
AREA OF A RECTANGLE
AREA OF A RECTANGLE
AREA OF A TRIANGLE
AREA OF A TRAPEZOID
You can also break up the trapezoids into triangles and or squares and
rectangles depending on the given measurements—then the partial
areas should be added for total area.
