Some geoanalysts have already shown their interest in this new column on reference samples and encouraged us to continue. The present work surveys the GRS bibliography reported from January to December 1981. It also includes some references overlooked in the first bibliographical compilation. Table 1. Table 1 shows the distribution of these reference papers in various journals. As previously, Geostandards Newsletter holds by far the first place, con- firming its important role for the geoanalytical community. Table 2. As it can be seen, neutron activation analysis is always the favorite technique, followed by atomic absorption spectrometry. It is also interesting to note that the "old" colorimetry is not at all unattractive for analytical geochemistry. Geostandards Newsletter, Vol. 6, No 1, Pvril 1982, p. 163 B 172
