President’s Corner

The classes conclude this month and the work in each of the groups is looking great! It will be fun to see all the finished work displayed at the April 4th show. It is particularly good to see some of the newer carvers who really enjoyed the Fall “Simple Santa” project, get excited about finishing another new and different piece of work with the whimsical bird project. The more experienced carvers are producing some fine work in their project groups as well! The Winter classes really do provide a great opportunity for both new carvers and experienced carvers to challenge themselves with a new project guided by very experienced and capable instructors in the Club. Participants get to proudly walk away with a great finished piece!

The GVWC committee met at the beginning of February and discussed the process for the upcoming show on April 4th. One significant change was made due to requests from the membership. It was agreed upon that members will be allowed to enter as many pieces as they wish for the one flat fee of $5.00. We hope that this change will encourage members to submit more of their work for both this show and future shows.

The April show is rapidly approaching. Only 5 weeks and 4 days until the show! We would like to thank everyone for the strong response to the request for help putting on the show. There may still be a need for help in a couple of areas, so check at the upcoming meeting if you are able and willing to help.

The competition rules and registration document will also be available on our website. So, CARVE, CARVE, CARVE!

If you have important club related news or an announcement you wish to get out to the membership, please let Harry or George Abbott know.

Regards, George and Harry

Remember, safety first, and keep those wood chips flying and the dust collected!

Chips from the EditorWinter is almost over. I enjoy the winter carving classes because a carving project helps the winter go by faster and it gives me a chance to get to know other club members. I hope you will take advantage of the $5.00 fee for all the carvings you want to enter for the show. Believe it or not I will have four things to enter. Remember there is a table to show off your work that you don’t want to enter in the show.

If you don’t receive the newsletter by the first week of month, please let me know and I’ll send you one. You can also find the newsletter on the website.

The April newsletter deadline is March 26.
