Freshman Success CounselingThe Student Success Center has developed a Success Counseling Program for incoming freshman who are on the main campus. This program promotes academic literacy, advocacy and personal development leading to improvements in the collegiate career of freshman. Our Success Counselors work with the departmental academic advisors to empower students to embrace their full potential and obtain their degree.

Each freshman is assigned to their Success Counselor based on their chosen major, and will meet their counselor during SOAR and/or Welcome Weekend for the first time. The student will then meet with their Success Counselor at least two times during the semester, once at the beginning of the semester and again after mid-term grades are posted. These meetings will allow the student and counselor to work together to solve any issues the student may be having, to improve utilization of campus resources and to help with the student’s transition from high school to a college level curriculum.
