History
Dr. Uday Vaman Kulkarni,
Mrs. Rashmi Uday Kulkarni and
Shri. Vaman Kulkarni are the
founders of Noble Geo-
Structs. Dr. Kulkarni has a rich
experience in Geotechnical
investigation. Mrs. Kulkarni heads the
Human Resource Department and
executes the administration and
finance. Shri. V. M. Kulkarni is
responsible for the effective finance
management.
Noble Geo-Structs has provided
engineering, scientific and
construction services to the industrial
and federal sectors.
NGS offers comprehensive services
for wide dimension of clients to
optimize earth’s capacity be it for
sustaining the loads or be it
controlling the flow across the
structure. NGS integrates the latest in
Geotechnology to the needs of
structures above and deliver to our
clients the cream for the project.
Since our founding in 1995, we have
completed more than 5000 projects
all over the country. Although the
Geotechnical activities form the hub,
our services are also appreciated in
environment, transportation, water
resources and marine projects. NGS
considers it no less than an award to
find a place in the news papers for
the slope stability analysis work at
the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.
Dr. UDAY KULKARNI
Dr. Kulkarni, the Founder and
Executive Director of Noble Geo-
Structs has a rich experience of forty
years in the Geotechnical field.
He was appointed as a chief
consultant in order to assess and
suggest remedial measures for the
deep cuts and tunnels on Pune-
Mumbai Expressway. The redressal
measures taken up met the
challenges effectively.
The Kolkata metro faced an impasse
when a portion in front of the shield
tunnel collapsed. It was indeed
challenging to account for the weak
zone in front of the shield. Dr.
Kulkarni recommended
commendable measures to meet the
challenge.
Dr. Kulkarni graduated from Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai
(Powai). He completed his M.Tech
(Soils) in 1975 and Ph.D. (Geotech) in
1980. Dr. Kulkarni was awarded
a GOLD MEDAL for his paper on shear
strength of expansive soils.
Dr. Kulkarni's contributions to
the Konkan Railway project was
laudable, especially in the areas of
deep drilling for more than 100 m at
tunnel locations, geotechnical
investigation for bridges,
instrumentation for high
embankment, soft soil improvement,
testing of bridge spans and slope
stability.
Dr. Kulkarni is involved in large
number of consultancy projects
related to slope stability, soil
investigation, ground modification
and geosynthetics for soft soil, bridge
foundations, design of foundations
on expansive soils, shallow and deep
foundations and many such projects.
He has published large number of
research papers.
Dr. Kulkarni has undergone a special
training by Louis Menard, Paris,
France for ground improvement
techniques and pressuremeter
testing in 1980.
Reach
NGS is known for evolving creative
solutions to meet the challenges. The
state-of-art laboratory of NGS offers
unique facilities in testing the
engineering behavior of earth and
construction materials. The special
wing of Non-Destructive Testing
offers a large number of Engineering
Services to Rehabilitation projects,
Industrial sectors, Commercial
sectors and Infrastructure projects.
Our Mission
NGS usually approaches the problem
from first principles. With the
strength, the scientific team
undertakes diagnostic studies. NGS
analyzes the problem and suggests
corrective measures and draws
specifications. NGS also undertakes
the execution of the measures
whenever necessary. For very
sensitive structure, NGS evolves
perfect monitoring scheme in total
solutions for field problems.
Addressing project needs is the
primary goal in NGS endeavor.

PROBEX ROCK PRESSUREMETER
More and more consultants and contractors have recognized the benefits and
cost savings associated with the use of Pressuremeter test, an insitu test. Such
applications in Civil Engineering fraternity range from safe bearing capacity
evaluation, pile capacity assessment, tunnel liner design, for dam foundation and
other detailed sub surface studies. NOBLE GEO-STRUCTS has all the expertise and
equipment related to pressuremeter testing.
PROBEX PRESSUREMETER
The Probex Dilatometer is a radially expandable bore hole probe used to
determine insitu modulus of elasticity of soft and hard rocks. The Probex has
maximum working pressure of 30000 kpa. It also measures creep properties. The
ease of operation and reliable method of measurement and interpretation are
direct results of many years of experience with borehole pressure meter.
Features:
High capacity - 30000 kPa
Evaluate Young’s Modulus
Foundation Settlement
Design of Tunnel Liner
NGS also offers rational solutions to any subsurface problems to be addressed.

Noble Geo-Structs provides a wide
range of design services for
foundations and earth retention
structures. Projects where these types
of services are provided typically
involve development of innovative
designs using specialty construction
techniques to provide cost-effective
construction solutions in difficult
terrain or in conditions where
conventional solutions are unattractive
we routinely perform analyses and
prepare designs for owners and
specialty contractors.
Many of these projects involve failed
or failing slopes in extremely difficult
soil and rock conditions.
Our experience with foundation and
earth retaining structures includes
design and consultancy services for:
Soil nailed slopes
Reinforced earth walls
Micropiles
Ground Improvement

Services to the water supply and
infrastructure sectors represent an
important portion of NGS’s business. In
response to the ever-increasing
demand of water supply and the
increasing use of more efficient and
more sustainable conveyance methods
to transport water, NGS has applied its
capabilities to meet the changing
demands. The NGS tunneling projects
also include design and consultancy for
the highway and railway sectors.

NGS’s has a wide range of expertise in the application of geophysical exploration methods for tunnels and bridges.
The decision whether to use a specific geophysical technique in a Geotechnical exploration depends on its cost effectiveness and available time as compared to other technologies.
At NGS, we use geophysical techniques when they are expected to provide a clear benefit to site characterization.
Our expertise in surveying includes the application of the following techniques and/or parameters:
Reduced Level
Contours
Water level Fluctuation
