General Recommendations for Cable Installation

a) Minimum Bending Radius for PVC Cables

i) Multi core up to 1.1 KV : 12D

ii) Multi core 3.3 KV & 6.6 KV : 15D

iii) Single core : 15DD is the diameter of the cable

b) Depth of laying

i) Low voltage power and control cables : 75 cm

ii) HV up to 11 KV : 90 cm

iii) Cables at road crossing : 100 cmiv) Cables at railway level crossing : 100 cm (below rails)

c) Minimum clearance between

i) Power cable to control cables : 20 cm

ii) Power cable to communication cable : 30 cmiii) Power cable to power cable : more the betteriv) Power cable to gas/water pipe line : 30 cm

d) Test before laying

Recommended voltage rating of meggar:-

i) 1.1 KV : 500 V

ii) 3.3 KV to 11 KV : 1000 V

iii) Above 11 KV : 2500 V

e) Tests after installation (High DC voltage test)
