UPDATED ANNOUNCEMENTS GDCA MIDWEST DIVISION 2018

********* MEET THE MERLE EVENT *********
The Great Dane Club of America along with the 2018 Midwest Division is pleased to announcea unique educational and competitive event to showcase the addition of the Merle to ourmembers as well as the fancy at large. On Thursday October 25th, 2018 one half hour afterjudging the GDCA will host the first competition for the Merle. Entries will be taken onThursday from the beginning of judging until the end of judging of the regular classes thatday. It is the wish of the GDCA that this showcase competition will serve a great tool toeducate its members and prospective judges on our newest recognized color. We inviteeveryone to participate whether by showing or just observing these beautiful dogs.
Classes will be 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 12-18 months, and Open (18mo and up). All classes will be divided by sex.
Additionally, the GDCA intends to ask that some of the Merles participating in the Meet theMerle Event be utilized for the judges’ education program the following day as we all knoweducation is paramount to the success and understanding of the implementation of thestandard changes. Participation in the event is key to the GDCA helping educate both breederjudges and upcoming judges alike.
We look forward to a great celebration of the Merle and invite everyone to participate and learn from this once in a lifetime event!!!!

DEADLINE FOR TROPHY DONATIONS IS SEPTEMBER 1, 2018. Trophy donations are desperately needed to help pay for our unique and lovelytrophies. Categories are: Dorothy’s Red Shoes ($300 & up), Scare Crow with a Brain($200.00 to $299.00), Tin Man with a Heart ($100 to $199), and Courageous Lion(donations up to $99).

INFORMATION ON SHIPPING ITEMS TO THE KANSAS EXPOCENTRE: (Welcome Bags)For those who will be shipping welcome bag donations, there is a change in theshipping information. The Expocentre is allowing boxes to be accepted fromSeptember 24th up to October 16th.
INFORMATION ON SHIPPING ITEMS OTHER THAN WELCOME BAG ITEMS:For those of you who have items that need to be shipped to the hotel. You may shipyour items to the hotel one week before the show (October 15-20, 2018).
DONATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE EVENTSFor those wishing to give a donation for an obedience, rally or agility award or specificclass, you may now do so in honor of or in memory of one of your special Great Danepartners-or perhaps do so for the Great Dane partner of a friend! High in Trial is $260,1st in a class is $100, 2nd-4th is $50 each. There are two Obedience trials, two Rallytrials and one agility trial. Click on the Obedience/Rally/Agility link on the GDCA.org,shows, 2018 National site. Follow the instructions for the donations. Pick your class oraward. If you wish to donate, but a lessor amount, please do so! You will still be listedwith the "in honor of" or "in memory of" statement and the name of your Great Danin the catalog.
