LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOUR MEANS

LovingYourNeighbourMeans...“A very special event is planned from 26

September to 1 October 2014. The Global Christian Schools Network gathering is due to be held in Costa Rica (26-30 September) and in Guatemala City (1 October). The major gathering for 2014 will be in Costa Rica, and the one-day event in Guatemala City is for those of us who are available to provide opportunities of engagement with the local Christian school educators of Guatemala. This gathering will continue the wonderful fellowship of those involved in missions through Christian schools. We will learn from each other and from various presenters, and we will be able to share our past experiences and our future plans in this area of great importance. For us we take 1 Peter 4:10 literally and as a command from God to us: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms”. The past experiences of this gathering have been special times of unity, challenge and inspiration, as well as times of rich and vibrant fellowship from Christian educators from many different parts of the world. We would love you to plan to attend and to invite and encourage others to be with us as well. We hope that this will be a really important time for us individually and as a community of faith.”

Conference AccommodationAccommodation in Costa Rica is located in Heredia, at the historic Hotel Bougainvillea, well known locally for its 10 acres of beautiful and diverse gardens. The hotel is only 20 minutes drive from the International Airport. Rooms boast views of the mountains, San Jose or the landscaped gardens.

Accommodation in Guatemala is at the five star Hotel Gran Tikal Futura, located just minutes from the airport and within the major commercial district of Guatemala City. The hotel is part of the Tikal Futura complex, featuring its own shopping mall of 160 stores.

Dr. Makhado grew up in poverty, and received his early education while being taught under a tree. He navigated his way through the apartheid Bantu educational system of South Africa and along the way moved from spiritual bondage to spiritual freedom. He has been actively involved, both in South Africa and globally, in education for 41 years. Dr Makhado was

appointed as an Associate Director for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in 2001. In 2003, he was named Regional Director, Southern Africa. In 2007 Dr. Makhado was promoted to his current role as the Director of ACSI Africa. In this capacity he oversees the work of ACSI on the African continent serving more than 4.5 million students.

Matthew Hillier attended Pacific Hills Christian School, and at age 13, believed that God had called him to send material resources to the persecuted Christians in Eastern Europe. Since then, which was in 1988, the ministry called, ‘Christian Mission International (CMIAid)’ has continued and expanded greatly with literally hundreds of volunteers supporting this ministry.

This ministry is now operating in several Eastern European countries and includes ministry in towns and villages, with orphans, schools, and with meetings and literature distributions to the police, armed services and prisoners in several countries. CMIAid also conducts short term mission trips which have been a wonderful avenue for encouraging people to serve.

About Global Christian Schools Network

We are a fellowship of Christian schools that are involved in promoting mission as an integral part of Christian education. We are an informal network for sharing, support and fellowship. Our schools come from a wide spectrum of the Christian church that believe in Biblical authority and accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

About Costa Rica & GuatemalaSituated in Central America, The Republic of Costa Rica highly values it’s own natural beauty with almost a quarter of the entire country listed as national park or protected area. Due to its proximity to the Equator, Costa Rica enjoys a warm, tropical climate year round.Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica although English is also widely spoken, particularly in more popular tourist areas.

The Republic of Guatemala, like its neighbour, Costa Rica, is rich in natural beauty. Many people visit Guatemala for its ancient Mayan ruins and active volcanoes as well as its world famous coffee. Spanish is also the official language of Guatemala.
