Ted Ballard (523rd) rode his Indian motorcycle in the Stephens City VA Memorial Day Parade Nice outfit Ted

Logan Werth (523rd) and his gun truck Uncle Meat participated in his home town parade in Mount Morris MI Memorial Day 28 May 2012 The photo is taken from inside the truck looking at the lake

Roger ldquoWillierdquo Williams (541st) participated in the Run for the Wall this past Memorial Day riding with hundreds of other bikers from Southern California to Washington DC John Porter (359th) caught photos of the group in Spring Hill TX and John Dodd (585th amp 359th) got photos at Bedford VA Willie said the ride was long and hot but a wonderful lifetime experience

Beware of Bogus Emails from DFAS (from Dennis Belcastro 669th) The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) which manages accounting and financial operations in the Defense Department has issued a warning about scam e-mails seeking personal information The bogus messages appear to come from a DFAS employee with a dot mil address and have been sent to uniformed personnel retirees and civilian employees ldquoThe emails indicate that individuals who are receiving disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may be able to obtain additional funds from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)rdquo says a notice on the DFAS Web site

ldquoThese emails are not issued by DFAS and will likely result in a financial loss if you comply with the suggestions in the email ldquoBottom line mdash do not send your personal information or copies of your tax returns and 1099s to the individual listed in the emailrdquo The DFAS warning says the e-mail claims funds can be received from the IRS if the recipients send personal information such as that on tax forms ldquoto a so-called retired Colonel at an address in Floridardquo ldquoDo NOT follow the suggestions in the email because you will be providing a significant amount of your personal information to a complete strangerrdquo the notice continues ldquowhich could result in a financial loss to yourdquo httpcapwizcomtreaissuesalertalertid=61211796ampqueueid=[capwizqueue_id]

The last newsletter included this Superior Driving patch from David Hartzell 64th Trans Co who received it for 26000 miles of safe driving in the spring of 1967 He asked if anyone knew any more about it and if other units had similar patches John Turner (541st) wrote to say he had the same patch for Superior Driving issued by 1st Log Command for 12420 miles of safe driving Qui Nhon May 1967 He has a paper certificate that gives all the information John also sent a second patch for Expert Drivers for 6000 miles safe driving issued also by 1st Log If anyone wants clearer images of the certificates just contact me bbower1coxnet Thanks John

Beware of Bogus Emails from DFAS (from Dennis Belcastro 669th) The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) which manages accounting and financial operations in the Defense Department has issued a warning about scam e-mails seeking personal information The bogus messages appear to come from a DFAS employee with a dot mil address and have been sent to uniformed personnel retirees and civilian employees ldquoThe emails indicate that individuals who are receiving disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may be able to obtain additional funds from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)rdquo says a notice on the DFAS Web site

Beware of Bogus Emails from DFAS (from Dennis Belcastro 669th) The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) which manages accounting and financial operations in the Defense Department has issued a warning about scam e-mails seeking personal information The bogus messages appear to come from a DFAS employee with a dot mil address and have been sent to uniformed personnel retirees and civilian employees ldquoThe emails indicate that individuals who are receiving disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may be able to obtain additional funds from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)rdquo says a notice on the DFAS Web site
