Garry Wade

From northern England. Studied engineering, physics and electronics at Newcastle Polytechnic until

someone gave him a camera. Has spent the last 25 years working in the commercial arena.

With an obsession for process, scale and technique he started using these processes to further delve into

alternate ways of viewing the photographic image. With combining new and old techniques he's currently

working on a gallery show of 36"x52" diptychs produced on large sheets of enameled aluminum.

Recent explorations have taken him back in time to the archaic process of 'Tin Types' and 'Ferrotypes'. From

these explorations he has developed a new process by which modern day Giclee prints can be mounted onto

aluminum and sealed allowing images to be viewed with out the need of glass.

The INSECT series comes from a long time interest in the complexities and diversity of these small and not

so small creatures. Their shapes and colorings to the shear volume of differences that exist. The images are

unaffected and show the subjects in a simplistic and un-stylized way.

The GHOST OF MEDICI series is from a 2008 trip to Florence Italy where he was the guest photographer of

'The Medici Archive Foundation'. Whose goal is to animate the actual words of the Medici Grandukes

contained within the Archiviodi Stato Firenze. With unparalleled access to such Museums as the; Ufizi

Gallery & Vasari Corridor, The Florentine State Archive, Museo Bardini, Museo di palazzo Davanzati and The

Castagneto Carducci. (The ancestral home of the della Gherardesca family. One of the oldest families

existing in Italy). He was able to explore the vast silent treasures of what lingers from that great age. The

trip was a visual exploration of the instigators , supporters and patrons of the renaissance, 'The Medici'.

Visual power and intrigue from the most influential family dynasty in Western Civilization. The imagery

takes a peripheral view of what remains. A sense of residue, an essence of Medici that still engulfs the city.

Currently working on a book, 'Ghost of Medici'.

Garry lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
