his test method is used to determine the resistance to slippage olling4arns o5er arp 4arns . or arp 4arns o5er lling 4arns. using a standard

    seam!

    Principle

he load elongation cur5e o the a7ric is super – imposed o5er a load elongation

cur5e o the same a7ric ith a standard seam sen parallel to the 4arns 7eing

    tested!

Fixed seam opening method - ,esistance to 4arn slippage is reported as the

load at hich a slippage o specied si8e (generall4 6 mm opening is preerred) is

    seen!

Fixed load method - ,esistance to 4arn slippage is reported as seam opening at

    a specied load!

    Apparatus

onstant rate o ;tension ensile testing instrument ith the olloing:

    < =oad cell ith a >/?g capacit4!

    < >/mmminute constant rate o e;tension!

    < @neumatic ru77er aced Aas (,ear Aa B C>;2>mm. Dront Aa 2>;2>mm)!

    < Dor @ operated machines. *e;t appro5ed sotare or a chart recorder de5ice!

    3cm cali7rated metal ruler

    Specimen Preparation

@repare specimens rom a garment or a production seamed panel that reEects the

seams to 7e used in the end garment!

Specimens must 7e 1//mm in idth and appro;imatel4 1>/mm in length ith the

seam central and parallel to the idth!

Fhere possi7le prepare 3 specimens rom the same seam area in the garment!

ll seam t4pes used in the garment must 7e tested!

    Conditioning

ondition the samples or a minimum o 0 hours in a conditioned atmosphere o

    2/ 2° and 6> 0H ,% 7eore testing!

arr4 out the test in this atmosphere!

Test Procedure (Using an Automatic Constant Rate of Extension Tensile

    Tester)

    a) he programme is automatic! he test speed is >/mm per minute!

    7) +se the C>mm ; 2>mm ru77er aced clamps as the rear Aas and

the2>mm ; 2>mm ru77er aced clamps as the ront Aas. to gi5e an area o

contact. 2>mm ; 2>mm hen the Aas are closed!

    c) he correct Aas must 7e in place and the gauge length set to 1//mm. using a

    cali7rated metal ruler!

    d) Select the correct programme and input the appropriate machinesettings. a7ric

inormation. technicians name and date o test!

    e) Slac? mount the specimens in the Aas. ensuring that the4 are central and

    straight!

) @lace the seamed specimen in the Aas ith the seam mida4 7eteen Aas.

and set the cross"head in motion until the ;ed load stated in the ta7le 7elo has

    7een reached!

    g) s soon as the ;ed load has 7een achie5ed reduce the load on the specimen

    to /!>?g at a test speed o >/mmmin!

    h) Fhen the specimen has reached a load o /!>?g use the 3cm metal ruler to

manuall4 measure the idest point o seam opening and record in mm!

    i) s soon as the seam opening has 7een measured set the cross"head in motion

    until the seam reaches 7rea?don!

,epeat steps e) to g) or the remaining test specimens!

    Test Report

,eport the test method num7er and title!

    ,eport the ;ed load used!

,eport the seam opening in mm or each indi5idual specimen and the location o

the tested specimens ta?en rom the garment!

ote: ,eport the seam 7rea?don in ?ilograms (i the seam 7rea?s don7eore the ;ed load is reached report as Jseam 7rea?donK and the load at

    hich this occurred)!
