PrefaceIn this module we have to design a garment

collection based on any of the following

storyline, womens wear, menswear and

kids wear. Based on current forecast we

were required to create samples using

weaving, knitting, printing and surface

ornamentation (select any two techniques).

After creating samples we have to use thosesamples to design garments. We were

required to design for garment with two

design options each. We have to make a

theme based garment collection using

textile techniques naming weaving, knitting,

printing and surface ornamentation.

Introduction to the

Theme-Manga Mania

The theme Manga Mania is inspired from

Japanese style of cartoon characters called

anime or Manga. My theme is based on

Lenzing kids wear trend forecast 2010

2011. The storyline is future play which

futuristic story. It is all about cartoon

character and 60s pop art. The themedepicts lots of energy, supernatural powers

and action. It comprises strong bold colours

with graphic looks. My inspiration plays

around power packed actions of Manga

characters and their super stylish avatars.

lightening powers of Manga mania.

Client Profile

My Client is a teenage girl aged 10 to 14.

She is a tomboy who is a fan of Manga

characters. She is very much inspired from

their style and personality. She is smart and

strong, loves adventure and action. She

believes in her and in girl power. Her stylesuits her ambitious and sporty nature. The

Manga inside her is always ready to face

challenges in the real life.

Retrospective

In this module I have made kids weargarment collection. The apparels are based

on theme named Manga Mania. It is inspired

from Japanese style of cartoon characters. I

have created samples using knitting and

surface ornamentation. I have made

samples keeping end product in mind for

the garment collection. I learned how I can

use textile design techniques in apparels.

While designing I realised that how to use a

particular structure of knitting or a

suitable area of the apparel. Now I can see

more opportunities and scope of textile

designing in apparel industry. The module

has helped me to improve my skills and

knowledge, which I will utilise in my future

endeavours.
