Alzheimer’s Awareness MonthFelician Village employees and residents decided to GO PURPLE with brain healthy activities to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s during June, Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. Some brain healthy activities included reading a book, going for a walk, playing cards, completing a crossword puzzle, exercising or enjoying a healthy meal. Check out the FV GO PURPLE video on YouTube that published on June 20 - the day withthe most light – when people from across the world fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s.https://youtu.be/4G6mnlx7XFk.

Let's Roll!Let's Roll!Summer fun with yard games at The Gardens. Some residents took advantage of a beautiful summer day to get some fresh air, enjoy great company and take part in a fun game of lawn Yahtzee all while social distancing.
The wind in your hair and experiencing nature around you...what a great way to spend a summer day! It's summertime and TriShaw bike rides have become a popular activity for many residents.Tim Lindloff, FV volunteercoordinator and a TriShaw bike pilot said, "It's my pleasure to be a bike pilot and give residents the opportunity to experience the outdoors, relive old memories and hopefully, create new ones."

President’s ColumnWhat a complicated world we live in today. Although we had challenges the past several months we persevered and I have good news to share. Congratulations to Felician Village staff and residents! It was announced on June 28 that Felician Village was voted “Best of the Lakeshore” for senior independent living, assisted living and nursing home, and physical therapy/rehab facility. We have received these awards 11 years in a row. What a fantastic accomplishment! In addition to this award, St. Mary’s remains ranked a 5-star nursing home by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid. This 5-star ranking puts St. Mary’s in the upper 10% of all nursing facilities in the country. And recently we learned that The Court and The Villa earned Gold Member status from the Wisconsin Coalition for Collaborative Excellence in Assisted Living (WCCEAL). July starts our new budget year and our 2020-21 budget was approved byboth the Felician Village Board of Directors and Felician Services. The budget provides funds to continue our mission of serving the elderly; those who have means as well as those who are not only poor monetarily but spiritually and emotionally too. Medicaid only provides a fraction of the true cost of care, which is why it’s so important to also serve residents who do have means. This is the only way that the Felician Village Mission and Ministry can be fulfilled. It allows us to employ the very best staff at a fair and competitive wage so we remain the employer of choice in senior living in Manitowoc. It allows us to continue to update our living areas as well as computer systems and provides for other needs across campus. Through your continuing dedication, Felician Village continues to grow and respond to the increasing needs of our current residents, the growing number of elderly, and the community in general. Embedded in our mission are our values of Respect for Human Dignity,Compassion, Transformation, Solidarity with the Poor, and Justice and Peace, which are shining rays of hope to light the pathway for staff, residents and families through difficult times. Although needs and crisis have occurred over the years, the mission of the Felician Sisters has endured – to continue the healing ministry of Jesus by providing compassionate care that respects the dignity of each person we serve. Peace and All Good,
