REMEMBERING 9/11 In an unprovoked and senseless act of terror-ism, four civilian aircrafts were hijacked on September 11, 2001, and crashed in New York City, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon, result-ing in a momentous loss of innocent U.S. lives. Among the heroism of our nation’s pub-lic service personnel, military service mem-bers, and countless volunteers, our nation found unity and strength. With the 20th anni-versary of the 9/11 attacks, the Town remem-bers and recognizes the heroism of firefight-ers, rescue and law enforcement personnel, military service members, and the many vol-unteers who responded to these tragic events with courage, selfless compassion, determina-tion, and skill as well as the victims and inno-cent lives lost as a result of the events of Sep-tember 11, 2001. RURAL HALL HISTORIC TRAIN DEPOT AND RAILROAD MUSEUM The Open House events have been so much fun this summer. It has been great to see so many new -- and familiar -- faces. The support is greatly appreciated. For those of you who haven't visited this year -- or, for those of you who would like to come again – the next Open House will be on Saturday, September 18, from 11 AM until 2 PM. If you do come for a visit, state guidance regarding COVID-19 is being adhered and everyone will be asked to wear a mask while indoors. See you are the Depot!

Town Flag Program

Over Memorial Day weekend and Flag Day, you may have noticed flags flown along NC 66, NC 65, and at the NC 66/NC65 intersec-tion. These flags are flown throughout the year for special holidays. They will fly once again for Independence Day. Throughout the years, many indi-viduals, groups, families, etc. have purchased flags in memory or in honor of someone dear to them. Although the flags are not individually marked, plaques hang in Town Hall reflecting these tributes. If you would like to purchase a flag in memory or honor of some-one, you can do so by visiting Town Hall or call 336-969-6856. Flags are $20 each.
