Being an IXL Math Star Can Really “Add Up”... Beginning this month, we will be celebrating our students' use of the computer-based IXL Math program in first grade through fifth grade. More specifically, we are looking to see the level of mastery each student is reaching when it comes to grade level as well as above grade level mathematics skills. Students who reach the highest level of skills mastery each month will be highlighted on the morning or afternoon announcements as well as posted on an IXL Math Stars board in the school. Come out for the Kid’s Ultimate Fitness Challenge This Sunday! Kids, Coach Johnson wanted you to know about this fun day of activities at Historic Fourth Ward Park from 10am-6 pm Sunday, Nov. 1st: there will be an obstacle course that includes sprinting, jump roping, wall crawls, hurdles, jumping jacks, sit ups, and tunnel crawls, a 20 ft. confidence climb and 60 meter dash to the finish. There will be lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy including Xtreme gaming fun for all ages and programs designed to inspire kids and families to live a more active and healthy lifestyle. The Sutton Middle School Orchestra and Band are traveling to New York City to play at a festival in Carnegie Hall in March, 2016!! Several GHES graduates are in this group, so please support these students and their once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by going out for Spirit Night at Barberito’s in The Peach Shopping Center from 4:00-8:00 pm. Please tell the cashier you are supporting SMS. Thanks for helping them get to the BIG APPLE!!! Career Day at Garden Hills! Wednesday, Nov. 18th 8:15am - 11:30am Parents, are looking for volunteers to share information about their career with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade stu-dents on Career Day. Volunteers will explain their career, how they came to be involved in their career and what the requirements are (degrees, certifications, etc.). You will also share the skills needed for your career and what subject areas in school are used the most (math, reading, art, science, etc.). You can bring tools, props, work samples to help explain what you do. If you are able to be a part of this terrific day please contact Mr. Gaither at [email protected] Tickets are on sale now for the Sutton Middle School Fall Musical The hilarious musical comedy selected this year, Once Upon a Mattress, is appropriate for all ages. Miércoles 18 de noviembre 8:15am - 11:30am Padres, estamos buscando voluntarios para compartir información sobre su profesión o Carrera a los estudiantes de tercer, cuarto y Quinto grado en el día de las profesiones. Los voluntarios explicarán su carrera, cómo llegaron a participar en su carrera y cuáles son los requisitos (grados, certificaciones, etc.). Us-ted también puede compartir las habilidades necesarias para su carrera y las áreas en la escuela que se utili-zan al máximo (matemáticas, lectura, arte, ciencia, etc.). Usted puede llevar herramientas, accesorios, mues-tras de trabajo para ayudar a explicar lo que hace.
