GAMESWISE MEDAL TALLY IN SOWSG,ATHENS 2011 

The 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece, was the

world’s largest sporting event for athletes with intellectual disabilities.184

athletes from India participated in 12 Summer Disciplines from 20th June to 4th

July 2011 competing with 170 countries.

The Indian team returned victorious with an outstanding medal tally of 248,

comprising of 78 Gold, 77 Silver and 93 Bronze Medals. Achieving a feat like

this has strengthened our resolve to move forward on the path of progress. 

Observing a change towards positivity, Air Marshal Keelor, Chairman, Special

Olympics Bharat says, “Our athletes are getting recognition and support at

Indian and World Stage which showcases the change of environment for the

disabled.”
