THE BABY CAKES – e New Orleans Baby Cakes come out of the All- Star break with an eight-game road trip, beginning tonight with the first of four against the Nashville Sounds. At 49-41, New Orleans held its best record at the break since 2003 (53-44). e ‘Cakes have claimed five of nine meetings with the Sounds this season, and took three of four at First Tennessee Park from May 30-June 2. LAST TIME OUT – e Baby Cakes went into the All-Star break on a winning note, courtesy of Sunday’s 3-2 win over San Antonio. An inside- the-park home run by Tyler Heineman accounted for the game’s first run when Missions outfielders Trent Grisham and Tyrone Taylor collided in the second inning, only for San Antonio to answer with a run in the third, though the damage could have been worse when Nate Orf was called out for missing third base on Taylor’s would-be go-ahead single. Gabriel Guerrero delivered a tiebreaking RBI single in the sixth to put NOLA in front 2-1, before the Missions appeared poised to respond again in the seventh, loading the bases with one out. But Brian Moran was summoned from the bullpen and struck out Cory Spangenberg and Taylor to escape the jam, then fanned the side in order in the eighth. New Orleans tacked on a key insurance tally in the bottom of the eighth, as Tuffy Gosewich led off the ninth with a homer before Kyle Keller retired the side for the save. ON THE HILL – Robert Dugger toes the slab for his fourth Triple-A start, in search of a third straight victory. Aſter allowing seven runs in 5.0 innings of a win at Oklahoma City on June 28, Dugger notched his first quality start on July 3 in Memphis by scattering three runs and 10 hits in 7.0 innings. He helped erase an early 3-0 deficit by slugging his first career home run, a two-run shot in the fourth, and was aided by solid defense as three Redbirds were thrown out on the basepaths. Across 13 starts with AA Jacksonville, Dugger was 6-6 with a 3.31 ERA and held Southern League batters to a .219 average, seventh-best in the circuit prior to his late-June promotion. FOR STARTERS – e Baby Cakes’ starting rotation ranks second in the PCL with a 3.94 ERA (San Antonio, 3.93), and continues to hold the top mark in opponents average (.243) and WHIP (1.22) while working 475.1 innings, 19.2 IP more than second-place Iowa. e group’s 485 strikeouts are 71 more than any other PCL club (Iowa) and are sixth-most among all minor league teams. e starters are on pace for 754 strikeouts, which would set a franchise record, surpassing the 2012 squad (645). DINGER DETAILS – e ‘Cakes have hit 13 home runs through the first seven games of July, tied for third-most in the PCL. New Orleans hit 33 in April, 47 in May and 39 in June to top 30 home runs in three straight months for the first time since May-July 2014. e 47 bombs in May was the highest monthly total in team history and only the fourth time with 40 home runs in a month since 1997. NOLA is tied for seventh in the league with 132 homers, already the team’s most since hitting 151 in 2014 and more than all but eight season totals in club history. STARRING ROLE – Isan Diaz participated in the Futures Game during MLB All-Star weekend in Cleveland, going 0x3 with a walk as the first NOLA player in the showcase since Logan Morrison in 2010. Last night, he struck out in both at-bats of the Triple-A All-Star Game in El Paso aſter entering the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. It was Diaz’s fourth All-Star appearance in his five full professional campaigns. DIAZZLING – Isan Diaz leads the PCL with 69 runs scored, already tied with Xavier Scruggs (2016) for the most by a NOLA player in the last five seasons. Diaz has slugged 20 home runs, tying his career high set in 2016 with Low-A Wisconsin and placing him 10th in the league, becoming the first NOLA player to hit 20 in a season since Scruggs (21) in 2016. He homered in five straight games, May 22-26, to set a new franchise record. In 50 games since May 11, Diaz is batting .337 (60x178) with 17 home runs, 11 doubles, 39 RBI and 46 runs scored, raising his season average to from .217 to .289. EDDY THE JET – Eddy Alvarez has hit safely in 16 of his 21 games with 10 extra-base hits. His 1.095 OPS since joining the team on June 14 is 10th-best in the PCL, and trails only Isan Diaz (1.102) among American Conference clubs. Five of his six homers have come in the seventh inning or later, when he is batting .391 (9x23), and he has posted a .390/.500/.854 slash line against right-handed pitching. TOUCH ‘EM ALL – Tyler Heineman’s inside-the-park home run was the Baby Cakes’ first since Brian Anderson on August 11, 2017 at Colorado Springs. Prior to that, the most recent inside-the-parker was also the last one at the Shrine, when Adam Everett circled the bases against Nasvhille on July 24, 2002. DEVVING UP – Deven Marrero has recorded a hit in 10 of his last 12 home contests for a .295 (13x44) average. He went just 5x30 (.167) on the last road trip with 10 strikeouts. Sunday marked his first multi-hit effort since June 27 and his 18th of the year, third on the club behind Isan Diaz (22) and Yadiel Rivera (21). LONELIEST NUMBER – Five of the Baby Cakes’ seven games in July have been decided by one run. STEAL AWAY – e ‘Cakes reclaimed the league lead with their 100th stolen base on Sunday, surpassing Tacoma (99) and reaching 100 steals for only the second time in the last 13 years (103 in 2016). 2019 SeasonPITCHERS WHO RAKE – Dugger scattered three runs and 10 hits across 7.0 innings for his ! rst AAA quality start in a win at Memphis on 7/3. A" er falling behind 3-0, he swatted his ! rst career home run in the fourth, a two-run shot to tie the game. It was his second straight game with an extra-base hit, having tripled in a 6/28 victory.

WINNER WINNER – A" er receiving nine runs of support, Dugger earned his ! rst Triple-A win on 6/28 at Oklahoma City, despite giving up seven runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts. He exited a" er allowing back-to-back doubles then a single to begin the sixth inning. It was the most runs allowed by a NOLA starter in a winning e# ort since Jeremy Guthrie (8 ER) at Colorado Springs on July 3, 2016.

SLOW START – Dugger lost the ! rst four games he started for AA Jacksonville, and ! ve of the ! rst six. In his initial four-game losing streak, he pitched to a 6.60 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 15.0 innings. In his second start on 4/11, he allowed singles to the ! rst two hitters of the game, the second of which de$ ected o# Dugger’s shoulder and forced him to be removed from the game.

HIGH FIVE – With victories in ! ve consecutive starts from 5/8-5/30, Dugger established a new career high winning streak, surpassing a four-game run with Jacksonville over a ! ve-start stretch from July 30-August 21, 2018.

DIRTY DOZEN – Dugger struck out a career-high 12 hitters on 5/13 vs. Biloxi, his second double-digit strikeout performance, joining a 10-strikeout e# ort on August 21, 2018 vs. Birmingham. He retired the ! rst 13 batters he faced, including seven via strikeout, and fanned the side in the ! " h inning. Dugger did not issue a walk in 7.0 innings en route to earning his third win of the year.

WHAT A WEEK – Dugger followed his 12-strikeout game by blanking Montgomery over 7.0 frames on 5/18, yielding only four hits, and was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week, the ! rst weekly honor of his career. He fanned 17 and yielded just eight hits in 14.0 innings across two assignments.

LUCKY SEVENS – Over his ! nal seven starts for the Jumbo Shrimp, Dugger went 5-1 with a 2.30 ERA, going at least 5.0 innings in each and reaching 7.0 four times. He struck out 47 in 43.0 innings, walking nine, and was invited to the Southern League All-Star Game. At the time of his promotion to Triple-A, he ranked seventh among SL starting pitchers with a .219 batting average against.
