Svalbard Rules of Common Sense1. Don’t throw trash in the nature. Don’t leave
permanent traces.
2. Don’t disturb animals and birds. Remember that you are the guest.
3. Don’t pick flowers. Protect diversity.
4. Don’t destroy or remove cultural monuments. All traces of humans from before 1946 are protected cultural monuments.
5. It is prohibited to attract, pursue or in other active manners seek out polar bears in such a manner so as to disturb them or pose danger to humans or polar bears.
6. Don’t leave the settlements without suitable weapons and experience in how to use them.
7. Be considerate towards others.
8. Contact the District Governor of Svalbard if you are planning to take a long trip by yourself. You are under obligation to notify the authorities about travels across large parts of Svalbard.
9. Familiarise yourself with laws and regulations regarding travel and activities on Svalbard.
10. Out of consideration for yourself and the environment, we recommend that you participate in organised trips.

Spitsbergen Airship MuseumThe museum presents the history of three airships trying to reach the North Pole, all starting from Svalbard: “America” in 1906-1909, “Norge” in 1926 and “Italia” in 1928 as well as the search and rescue expeditions where among others Roald Amundsen lost his life.
