Job Description
Senior Survey Support Officer
Job Title: Senior Survey Support Officer Grade 3
Department/Service: Research and Product Operations
Responsible to : Survey Support Manager
Main Role:
To undertake clerical work involved with the administration of surveys, coding and marking events, products and test development work.
A Senior Survey Support Officer would be expected to:
Work with little or no supervision
Prioritise own workload managing more than one project at a time
Work on large-scale projects
Have sufficient knowledge and expertise to be able to takeover routine tasks as required
Assist in the training and supervision of less experienced staff including temporary staff
Assist in Printshop in the absence of Printshop Manager
Develop a good understanding and knowledge of the departments procedures and guide others on these procedures in line with our Good Practice Guide
Main Activities:
1. To undertake the lead clerical role on two or more projects this would include communicating all clerical requirements to Survey Support Manager. Gaining a good working knowledge of the project requirements and production of documents as required.
2. Telephoning schools and other organisations, as required, for recruitment or data collection purposes and responding to telephone and email queries from schools and other organisations
3. Checking in returned materials and accurately recording information on the survey administration system or in Excel or Access. Intermediate knowledge of word, excel and survey admin required to meet project requirements
4. To ensure the quality of the work undertaken by permanent and temporary clerical staff
5. To review work and staff project requirements on a weekly and daily basis
6. To monitor Health and Safety
7. Assist in the training and supervision of less experienced staff in RPO project processes and procedures
8. To liaise with other NFER departments, particularly finance and buildings and grounds
9. To monitor inboxes and ensure queries are dealt with in a timely manner
10. Working in data capture group, scanning and verifying documents
11. Working in Printshop, duplicating and collating documents, ensuring their quality and operating Printshop document inserter.
12. To update and amend databases
13. To query and manipulate electronic data
14. To prepare materials for dispatch including all required record keeping
Person specification:
The successful candidate will have:
Essential
A minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths, at Grade C and above;
Good organisation skills
Ability to forward plan a set of tasks against several projects within a fixed timescale and work within that plan
Good technical skills with the ability to create accurate electronic records and to use Excel and mail-merge
The ability to communicate effectively in writing, on the telephone and in person;
A flexible approach and a willingness to adapt to all tasks;
Good team working experience;
Attention to detail.
Self starter, able to work on own initiative, plan and prioritise work without constant supervision
Ability to liaise at all levels with staff across the Foundation
Ability to work within a team
Excellent customer service skills
Physically fit
Desirable
Some experience of working with schools would be desirable
Some experience of working within pack and despatch would be desirable
Experience of working with a range of databases and systems
Line management and supervisory experience
Experience of print fulfilment.
