The G6500 is a master of

versatility in fabric production.

It excels in weaving not only

simple, mass-produced goods,

but also exclusive fashion

fabrics and OPW (one-piece

woven) jacquard front and side

airbags.

Sultex G6500 Rapier Weaving Machine – a synthesis of

quality, performance and economy

The Sultex G6500 is

based on ITEMA’s dec-

ades of experience

and expertise. This ra-

pier weaving machine

is a synthesis of proven

technology and pioneer-

ing new developments.

Thanks to the use of

leading-edge CAD tools,

precise matching of the

individual components

was possible from the

outset. Thus, even dur-

ing the design phase,

the machine’s functions

could be simulated,

tested and optimized to

meet the demands of

everyday weaving prac-

tice. To maximize the

productivity of this new

machine, ITEMA engi-

neers focused on low-

load weft insertion and

minimal warp loading.

Available in ten machine

widths from 170 cm to

360cm, the G6500 is the

economically efficient

way to a quality product

for every type of fabric.

With the Sultex G6500, ITEMA sets new standards in rapier

technology. Excellent fabric quality, high machine perform-

ance and low production costs are the three key features

that make this rapier weaving machine the new front runner,

giving today’s weaving industry an advantage in quality and

performance coupled with unprecedented economy.

Lean design, strong performance

The design of the Sultex G6500 is straight-forward and

compact. The torsionally rigid frame ensures low vibration

even at high machine speeds.

In the G6500, ergonomic

design and user-friend-

liness play a key role

in achieving outstand-

ing results in produc-

tion. Thanks to the low

ma chine height and its

uncluttered design, all

sub-units are easily ac-

cessible. The mainte-

nance-free direct drive

transfers the torque di-

rectly to the main shaft.

Several functions are

controlled by it, adjust-

ment of machine speed,

shed levelling and pick

finding. There are only

a few mechanical parts,

thus ensuring minimal

maintenance costs.

Thanks to the modu-

lar concept, conver-

sions can be carried out

quickly. Thus a high de-

gree of flexibility and

speed of reaction are

achieved that are cru-

cial to success in a com-

petitive environment. In jacquard weaving, up to 12

weft colours give the designer

a wide variety of patterning

options.

Minimal weft loading – maximum flexibility

First-class fabric quality and high productivity are achieved

primarily by low yarn loading in warp and weft.

A minimum of deflec-

tions, optimally coordi-

nated motion sequences

and low acceleration

values are three of the

outstan ding features of

the G6500. The low weft

tension thus achieved

make it the most reliable

rapier weav ing machine

available. With the elec-

tronic colour selector,

driven by a linear mo-

tor, the feed can be indi-

vidually adjusted for the

yarn to be woven. Fancy

yarns, coarse twists,

elastic yarns, Lurex, silk,

wool and even fine cot-

ton are reliably inserted

in any given mix with top

performance. The ability

to insert two wefts si-

multaneously opens up

a completely new di-

mension in pattern ing

and productivity.

One of the G6500’s major

strengths: the rapier head

inserts any kind of weft and in

freely programmable sequence

reliably. The compact dimen-

sions and the small cross-sec-

tion guarantee optimal running

characteristics at high speeds,

and thus excellent fabric quality.

Dual benefit: the “RotoCut”

electric weft cutter always cuts

the weft at the best possible

moment, irrespective of yarn

type and material. Therefore,

manual setting of the cutting

time is not necessary.

Low weft tension: the weft run

is largely free of deflections.

The colour selector, with 4, 8 or

12 weft feeders, offers almost

unlimited pattern ing options.

Gentle warp handling – unparalleled fabric quality

The quality of the fabric

produced by the G6500

is essentially a result of

the low loading and the

run of the warp ends.

The rear shed offers nu-

merous setting options

for this purpose.

Close but contactless: high-

precision positioning of the

rapier head close to the reed

results in clean shed separa-

tion, even with clinging warp

ends and a small shed opening

angle.

With its patented support ing

teeth the G6500 is reliable and

superior even with yarns that

are difficult to weave, such as

warp ends with a tendency to

cling.

A wide variety of options for

setting the rear shed allow top-

quality fabric to be woven with

optimum running performance

and low warp loading, with both

symmetrical and highly asym-

metrical rear shed geometry.

mal running characteris-

tics for every application.

In addition, the elec-

tronic warp let-off, con-

trolled by force sensors,

ensures constant warp

tension from the full to

the empty warp beam.

The G6500 can be

e quipped with various

warp tensioning systems:

controlled back rest

roller

roller.

Horizontal compensa-

tion for the shedding

motion ensures that the

set rear shed geome-

try is exactly maintained.

This results in minimal

warp loading and opti-

Performance

With a machine speed

of up to 700 rpm and

a max imum weft inser-

tion rate of 1520 m/m,

the G6500 is the top

performer among ra-

pier weaving machines.

Focus on customer benefit

Flexibility

The G6500 was de-

signed for a broad range

of styles. It can be set

ibly to meet changing

market requirements.

Economic efficiency

The straightforward en-

gineering design and

a correspondingly low

number of mechanical

parts, as well as the

short set-up times, help

to keep running costs

to a minimum.

Quality

By minimizing stop-

pages and thanks to the

reproducible settings,

excellent fabric qual-

ity of a consistently high

standard is achieved.

Well equipped for tomorrow’s markets

With its modular design concept and the substantial scope

it offers for expansion, the Sultex G6500 is a rapier weaving

machine geared to the future – a safe long-term investment.

Choice of shedding

machines

The equipment options

for the G6500 include an

electronic jacquard ma-

chine and a variety of

positive dobbies with

up to 24 shaft drives.

The uncompromis-

ingly modular design al-

lows the G6500 to be

adapted any time to

meet new require-ments.

The warp tensioning

system, for example,

with single-sprung back

rest roller can be con-

verted to the mechan-

ically-positive driven

variant, or vice versa,

within just 30 minutes.

Quick and easy set-

ting for selvedge

formation

Separately driven, elec-

tronically controlled sel-

vedge forming units en-

sure clean selvedge

forma tion. The timing

of shed closure for the

left and right selvedges

is freely programma-

ble via the terminal,

thus guaran-teeing op-

timal running character-

istics irrespective of the

weft yarn. Fine adjust-

ments are made on the

selvedge forming unit it-

self. The effect can thus

be judged immediately.

The electronically con trolled

selvedge forming unit can be

adjusted at the terminal while

the machine is running. Fine

adjustments are made on the

unit itself.

When the G6500 is equipped

with an electronic jacquard

machine, the patterning options

are virtually limitless.

Reliable and maintenance-free:

the integrated pick finder cou-

pling on the direct drive.

Short set-up times – the key to productivity

The G6500’s short set-up and changeover times make it a

leader in productivity and flexibility. It is thus an ideal rapier

weaving machine for a market in which weavers face the

dual challenge of rapidly changing requirements and short

times to market.

Opening the warp beam bear-

ings to change the beam could

hardly be simpler. No tools are

needed.

Short style setting

times

With mechatronic so-

lutions and reproduci-

ble settings, the G6500

can be reset to pro-

duce a different style

very quickly, and the fab-

ric quality is right from

the very first metre on.

Style changes: fast

and (almost) without

tools

On the G6500, you can

change styles or warps

fast – and almost with-

out tools. Thanks to

the practical quick-ac-

tion couplings, the en-

tire shaft assembly can

be fitted or removed

quickly and easily. When

carrying out a quick

style change, the warp

stop motion is just

as easy to replace.

The G6500 can be e quipped

with a race board or supporting

teeth, which can be

switched quickly.

User-friendly control

Besides excellent textile characteristics, the state-of-the-art

control system is a persuasive argument in favour of the

G6500.

Logically arranged push but-

tons facilitate the operation of

the weaving machine.

SmartWeave –

intelligent pattern

data program ming

“SmartWeave” offers fab-

ric designers intelligent

support in the prepara-

tion of weave designs and

pick repeats. The pre-

pared pattern data are

combined with the set-

ting parameters of the

style and transferred to

the G6500 via data car-

rier or intranet. Once the

data has been trans-

ferred the machine can

be set up quickly.Weaves,

pick sequences and set-

ting parameters can

of course also be pro-

grammed and/or modified

directly at the terminal.

Network-ready touch-

screen terminal

The G6500’s control in-

ter-face is a user-friendly,

Internet-ready touch-

screen terminal. The log-

ical structuring, with

self-explanatory picto-

grams, guides the oper-

ator to the desired func-

tion simply and with

a minimum of keying.

Thanks to the G6500’s

Internet capability, re-

mote interrogation of the
