Firewall

oDEFINATIONo A firewall is a set of related programs,

located at a network gateway server, that protects theresources of a private network from users from othernetworks.

o An enterprise with an intranet that allows itsworker access to the wider internet installs a firewall to

prevent outsiders from accessing its own private dataresources & for controlling what outside resources itsown users have access to.

What kinds of things can happen if youdont have a firewall

If you do a fresh install of Windows XP,& leave itunpatched,the computer will be attached within minutes.You will be will be attached through your open ports &bombarded with popup messages.Trojans,viruses & worms will be loaded in the pc,Spyware &

Malware will clog up the browser. Even if we have all of XPs service packs and updates,nothaving a firewall the means somebody will eventually find anopen port on pc.

Most firewall like the one built into Windows XP willalert you about suspicious incoming traffic.

Anyone trying to gain access to the pc will hit the

firewall first.The firewall deflects the attack & give a warningabout it.

In information technology an application is acomputer programme design to help people performan activity. An application thus differs from an operating systema utility and a programming language.

Depending on the activity for which it was designed,an application can manipulate text, numbers,graphics, or a combination of these elements.Some application packages offer considerablecomputing power by focusing on a single task, suchas word processing; others, called integratedsoftware, offer somewhat less power but includeseveral applications user written software tailorssystems to meet the user `s specific needs.Users create this software themselves and oftenoverlook how important it is.

enterprise digital assistants.

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) integrates internal andexternal management information across an entireorganization, embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing,sales and services , customer relationship management,etc.ERP system automate this activity with an integrated

software application. its purpose is to facilitate the flow ofinformation between all business functions inside theboundaries of the organization and manage the connectionsto outside stakeholders.

Accounting software is application software that records andprocesses accounting transactions within functionalmodules such as accounts payable, accounts receivable,payroll, and trial balance.
