• Embedded Software & System Engineering– Complex Product platforms strategy– Increased importance of the Embedded Software into the product

differentiation

• System for Customer Services (SLM)– from Spares to the overall system for Service– Service, especially parts management has immediate short term ROI

• Industry focused “solutions”– A&D Template for easier adoption by system suppliers, Reduced TCO – Automotive Market with growing importance of embedded software, reg.

compliance and after market performance

• PLM demand connects tightly with our customers strategy– Globalization and M&A requires PLM– Certification (incl. Environmental)– Supply Chain strategy and Global collaboration

• For owners and operators of helicopters, it is vital that– Non-operational time for the aircraft is minimized and that when unplanned maintenance is

required the spare parts are available quickly, right first for the particular helicopter configuration.

• Over time, the procedure for dealing with spares requests has become more and more complex

– Time consuming and prone to errors. As the helicopter design evolves, the updating of the Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) is critical.

• The purpose of SCDM is to ensure that– EC’s customers have more accurate IPCs, more quickly– EC is be able to supply parts or launch procurements and builds (if not in stock) immediately on

receipt of a spares request.

To accelerate its customer services strategy Eurocopter launches a key project : Spares Configuration Data Management (SCDM)
