    Website: mdfairview.com

The Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 is located approximately

558 km north of Edmonton on Highway 43 and 90 km north of

Grande Prairie on Highway 2. To enter the municipality from the

south, you will cross the mighty Peace River on the Dunvegan

Bridge, the longest gravity-anchored suspension bridge in

Alberta. Crossing the Gateway to the North will bring you to the

Historic Dunvegan Park and Interpretive Centre.

    THE MAPLES

Pratts Landing is located on the shoresof the Peace River, 26 river kilometers,

4 hours of paddling upstream from

Dunvegan - if driving you can access

    this wilderness park from secondary

highway 682, 32 km west of the Town

of Fairview. There are 15 stalls with Fire

pits, free firewood, and there is also a

    playground for the kids.

The Maples is a beautiful day use picnic area located on the west side of Dunvegan Bridge. It is located

approximately 26 km south of the Town of Fairview on Highway 2. Visitors may investigate numerous

stories about the fascinating history of this area by touring both parks. Historic Dunvegan was one of the

first areas to be settled in the region. Along with great camping and picnic facilites, there are adjacent

With every change in season comes a change in chores.

When it snows, mother nature provides us with a freewinter workout snow shoveling! To keep our community

moving smoothly and safely, everyone must pitch in.

For our part, the Town of Fairview Public Works department

works hard to keep our streets travel worthy in the most

    effective and efficient manner.

Residents and commercial properties owners are responsible

for clearing snow and ice off walkways. Pursuant to Section

    3 of Bylaw No.937/TR/2009, commercial properties musthave clean sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfalls end;

residential property owners are given 48 hours to clear

    walkways.

Sidewalks are properly cleaned when all snow has

been removed and the walk has been salted/sanded as

    required.

Fairview is a community with a big heart. Lets be reminded of

this while we help those who may have difficultly removingsnow from their sidewalks. In doing so, we achieve not only

the satisfaction of making positive connections with our

neighbours, but also in knowing our Town is safe!

The Town of Fairview receives many calls from people who have lost

their pets, as well as complaints of stray animals wandering the streets or

trespassing on others property. The towns bylaw control officer will pick

them up and take them to the pound, but if the pets are not licensed, we

have no means of identifying the owners. If unclaimed after 72 hours, and

no adoption has taken place, the animals may be transferred to SPCA in

Peace River or may be euthanized. This is a sad but necessary task, paid for by the taxpayers. The problem is

easily rectified by purchasing an inexpensive pet license at the Town Office. It is critical that your pets wear

    identification.

Is your dog gone? Call the Town Office immediately to see if it has been picked up. If looking to adopt ananimal, call the Town Office to leave your name and number to be kept on our file. We get young, intelligent,

beautiful and sometimes pedigree dogs and cats. If, on the other hand, you are not prepared to take on

the responsibilities that go with pet ownership, leave it be. Animals require a lot of love, care and attention.

Do not allow your animals to run at large, ever! That said, we have received reports of dogs being left on

leashes day and night, sometimes without shelter, food or water. They are left in blistering sun in summer

and freezing cold in the winter, laying in their own feces. Dogs are teased, tormented, abused and injured

by their human friends. If you witness any type of animal abuse, please call the Town Office or the RCMP

immediately. Animal cruelty has no place in Fairview!

Dont neglect your PETIQUETTE. You must not allow your pets to annoy neighbors. There is to be no

barking whatsoever between the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am, and no incessant barking any time of theday. If you own a cat/cats, the kitty poo must stay in your own yard. When walking your dog, be sure to

take a plastic bag to scoop poop to be deposited in an appropriate garbage container. If you are walking

your dog, it must be on a leash and you must have complete control so it does not attack or intimidate

    passers-by or other dogs.

Pursuant to Bylaw 941/G/2009 an owner of an animal is guilty of an offence if:

removed and disposed of in a sanitary manner

    ITS A

    DOG-GONE SHAME!

    IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS,

TAKE PROPER CARE OF THEM, OR GIVE THEM UP!
