Play A Key RoleOver the past eight years, the Future Stars’ Grand Premiere has allowed the Fondation de la Place des Arts to support Place des Arts’ Access-to-the-Performing-Arts Program and its numerous activities that reach some 150,000 participants every year.

Now more than ever, equitable access to the arts is of great concern to the Fondation and to Place des Arts. As we want to reach out to a wider audience; this year, the Access-to-the-Performing-Arts Program’s cultural offerings and arts awareness workshops are being adapted for clienteles with specific needs.

The trust of our partners and donors is essential to our ongoing efforts. It is thanks to you that we have been able to support the creation of this new Adaptive Arts component for people living with psychological issues, physical limitations, and/or social exclusion, while continuing our many activities for families, young people and their teachers, artists, and cultural communities.

We invite you to take a look at the various ways you can participate in the ninth edition and join us as a partner in this unique event. We fervently hope to be able to count on your support. An unforgettable evening awaits you and your guests, in Théâtre Maisonneuve at Place des Arts, on Tuesday, June 4.

We look forward to seeing you!

Théâtre Maisonneuve – Place des Arts

Access to the arts is the core component of the Fondation’s mission, which is why, each year, close to 400 teenagers and newcomers to Montreal are invited to attend the performance portion of the Future Stars’ Grand Premiere free of charge. To that end, Community tickets are offered to schools and community organizations in less privileged areas. Thanks to the generosity of our partners and donors, many of these guests get to experience their first show in a major performance venue in Quebec.

Funded by the Fondation, the Access-to-the-Performing- Arts Program fosters an approach based on cultural mediation that has many benefits for its participants, namely with regard to the development of knowledge and skills – both cultural and social. Its many free or affordably priced activities are an invitation for community members to engage with the arts, both as spectators and as amateur

practitioners.

THE FAMILY/YOUTH PROGRAM offers free or affordably priced activities and shows for younger children, notably through the Place des Arts junior series.

It introduces children to the performing arts and to codes of performance.• 14shows,22performances,and5,000participantseach

THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM focuses on the artistic experience for high school students from underprivileged areas.

It fosters increased self-esteem, an openness to others, the discovery of one’s abilities, school perseverance, and the learning of concepts of tolerance.• 2,400students,includingsome200inreceptionclasses

THE CULTURAL ANIMATION PROGRAM aims to raise public awareness of the performing arts—be they living, visual, or digital.

It allows for an increased engagement with the arts, a renewed sense of belonging to a community and of being an integral part of a space for dialogue.• 140,000peopleparticipateintheactivitiesandvisitthe

THE RESIDENCIES AND CO-PRODUCTIONS PROGRAM supports artists’ research and experimentation processes.

Place des Arts’ Access-to-the-Performing-Arts Program is distinguished by its creation of encounters between artists and the public, its accessibility, and its cultural diversity.

There are now five components that make up the program:

FAMILY/YOUTH; EDUCATION; CULTURAL ANIMATION;

RESIDENCIES AND CO-PRODUCTIONS; and, since the fall of 2018, ADAPTIVE ARTS.
