Collecting internet and other born digital heritage at the Alexander Turnbull Library There is little doubt that digital technologies have significantly changed how information is created and disseminated in contemporary society. The people, families, communities and organisations that are the source of the collections for institutions like the Turnbull are creating more of the documentary heritage of tomorrow in increasingly complex digital form. In this presentation Mark will provide an overview of the born digital and Internet collections of the Turnbull Library, seven years after the launch of the National Digital Heritage Archive. He will also highlight some of the challenges and opportunities, and pose some questions for discussion, on the role the research library of the future will play in enabling society to understand the past. Mark Crookston is Digital Collection Strategy Leader at the Alexander Turnbull Library. Mark is an archivist who has worked in various roles throughout New Zealand, the U.K. and the Pacific. He is a Master of Library and Information Studies from Victoria University of Wellington and has researched and published several papers on the collection, preservation and use of digital information in New Zealand.     Collecting internet and other born digital

    heritage at the Alexander Turnbull Library

    The people, families, communities and organisations that are the source of the collections for institutions like the Turnbull
