A: European alliances with Native Americans led to involvement in each others conflicts.
Causes of the French and Indian War
1. Generally speaking name the two causes of the French and Indian War.
A: Conflicting land claims in the Ohio River Valley.France attacking English settlements.
2. Identify the name of the land that was causing conflict and what was on it that caused both the British and the French to want it.
A: Ohio River Valley and Beaver/furs.

1. Describe the events that officially started the French and Indian War.
A: George Washington went to defend Fort Duquesne. He launched a surprise attack on a group of French and Indian soldiers and the French captured for Necessity.
Braddock’s Blunder1. Why was Braddock defeated
by the French while trying to capture of Fort Duquesne?
A: He would not break formation and let his men fight from behind trees.
2. What miraculously happened to George Washington during this battle?
A: 4 bullets went through his coat but did not hit him.

1. What was the event that was the turning point of the war?
A: British General James Wolfe captured the French city of Quebec.
2. Give details that describe how this event unfolded.
A: The British found a secret passage up the cliffs guarding Quebec. They then launched an attack and captured the French town.

A: This conflict doubled Britain’s National debtBritain decided to start taxing the colonists to pay for the war debt.
2. What was the Proclamation of 1763, and why did this Proclamation make the colonists mad?
A: An imaginary line that ran along the Appalachian Mountains that colonists couldn’t move west of. They thought they had fought and won the right to move into the Ohio River Valley

allowed the colonies develop largely on their own.

– They do this through their elected assemblies.
