    Magic Kingdom Park

    By: Ron and Shannon

The original park, designed by Walt Disney himself, MagicKingdom exemplifies magic and fun. Created so that parents andtheir children could have fun together, the park still embodies thisideal.

At 107 acres, the park is made up of several lands that encircle acentral hub in a wheel's spoke fashion. If you walk down MainStreet to the "hub", Adventureland is the first land on your left. Then you come to Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, andTomorrowland, with, of course, Main Street behind you.

You enter the park on Main Street, USA, which is modeled aftera 1900 version of Walts home town, Marceline, Missouri. You willfind City Hall (where cast members can make dining reservations, give you translation guides, sign-up for tours, and pretty muchhave any question answered), many different shops sporting allkinds of Disney gear, eateries, a barbershop, and a variety of

transportation options that will set the mood for the park. Adventureland is filled with daring activities in foreign lands. Thesound of drum beats sets the tone for the many attractions, shopping opportunities, and dining establishments. In Frontierland you step into the West, with rustic buildings, roughgroundwork, a fort, an island, two of the major Magic Kingdom

Mountains Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain. Next, you will wander into Liberty Square, which allows you toexplore Colonial America. The Hall of Presidents, a workingriverboat, a replica of the Liberty Bell, a dining establishmentfashioned after a Colonial pub, and a number of patriotic shopping

opportunities await you here. Fantasyland is next, and you will immediately know you haveentered the land of make-believe. You will find fantastic rides(many based on animated Disney stories), enchanting shops, acolorful carrousel, flying elephants, huge rotating teacups, and, ofcourse, the parks iconic Cinderella Castle. Finally, Tomorrowland hurls you into a futuristic world, where youcan zip through outer space, compete for points in an alien-filled

world, find Stitch when he first arrived in Disney World, ride rocketships, and enjoy attractions that give you a glimpse of the future.

Each land is filled with intricate details to support the theme of theland, right up to the costumes of the cast members, and the musicthat is specially formulated for each land.

Incredible parades floats between Frontierland and Main Street at

least twice a day, and there are street performances, shows, andcharacter appearances throughout the park.

    Jungle Cruise RideMagic Kingdom=>Adventureland

    By: osseous

Travel the Nile, the Amazon, and to a jungle in Asia. Thislong-time Disney favorite allows guests to encounterAudio-Animatronic jungle animals, experience somenever-before-seen wonders, escape from animatronic natives, andsurvive some incredibly corny - but fun - jokes. (You can't miss the"back side of water" as you experience your jungle excursion.)The entire experience allows all guests to be children again -

chuckling along with a spiel that varies mildly from boat captain tocaptain.

This ride is appropriate for all ages.

This is a FASTPASS attraction. If the standby line is more than 20minutes, it would be worthwhile to grab a FASTPASS.

FUN FactsThe friendly headhunter who appears near the end of the JungleCruise is known as Trader Sam".

The Jungle Cruise water is dyed brown, so that guests can't see that itis only 3.5 feet deep in places!

Four rivers of the world are visited on the Jungle Cruise: the Nile,

    Amazon, Congo, and Mekong.

Hidden MickeysSometimes waiting in line isn't so bad - you can find a great HiddenMickey near the water of the Jungle Cruise, made-up of orange lifepreservers and black cleats.

A small Hidden Mickey can be found on the Jungle Cruise sign - lookjust under the J on the sign, and you will see three little bumps thatform a classic three-circle Mickey head.

This one can be hard to find. Just after you pass the waterfall the firsttime, look for an airplane on the left side of the boat. On the right sideof this wrecked plane, you can see a classic three-circle Mickey headkind of sketched into the aluminum body.

Pirates of the Caribbean RideMagic Kingdom=>Adventureland

    By: mrkathika

Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirate's Life For Me! This is a premiere Disneyride. The Audio-Animatronic characters take you along on a pirateadventure. Recently updated to include characters from thePirates of the Caribbean movie, the new characters are even morelife-like; Captain Jack Sparrow has been added to the attraction, and only enhances the experience. Even before the update, thecharacters all appeared so life-like - right down to the hair on their

    legs!

You load boats that sail along through various pirate scenes. Youare in the middle of a pirate cannon fight, see some typical scenesthat, in any other context, would appear somewhat scary, andenjoy the spoils of the victors. Truly, while the scenes - whendescribed - seem frightening, nearly everyone, including smallchildren, find this to be an appealing ride.

Unfortunately, this is not a FASTPASS attraction. There can belong lines for this ride; always popular, it has become even moreattractive to guests as the pirate craze continues and new Piratesof the Caribbean movies open. As you are entering the ride, be

sure to note that there are two lines: guests tend to follow the folksin front of them, so one of the lines often has fewer peopleentering it - choose that line!

Disney twisted things up when they created a movie - The Pirates

of the Caribbean - based on the popular Disney ride, as opposedto creating a ride to go along with a popular movie.

The queue has some interest, and is a cool respite from the heat.

ECV guests must transfer to a wheelchair, and then must transferfrom the wheelchair to the ride.

FUN FactsCheck out the pirates playing chess in the queue of Pirates of theCaribbean - they are at a stalemate. They literally died playingchess (Note: You must choose the right line of the queue to see thetwo pirates.)

125 Audio-Animatronics figures are used in the Pirates of theCaribbean - 65 are pirates and villages, and 60 are animals.

    Hidden Mickeys

As you are standing in line for one of the most popular rides in MagicKingdom, be on the lookout for these Hidden Mickeys. If you findyourself in the left side of the queue, watch for the gun cases - manyare locked with Mickey-shaped padlocks.

As your boat approaches the final scene in Pirates, check out thegreen iron lantern that is hanging closest to the boat on the left side. There is a small three-circle classic Mickey formed by the wire loopshanging at the bottom of the lantern.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin RideMagic Kingdom=>Adventureland

    By: osseous

Just like Aladdin and Jasmine, you get to go on a magic carpet rideover Agrabah. This ride is similar to Dumbo, in that it loads all atonce, and then the riders fly several cycles before the rugs arelowered and reloaded for another trip.

Up to four people - two in front, two in back - are loaded onto eachcarpet. The seats in the front control the up-down movement of

the carpet; you should sit in back if you want to control theforward-backward movement.

Keep your eyes open, watching for the camel who occasionallyspits on the carpets as they fly by. Luckily, even if he gets you,you aren't likely to get very wet. There is a second camel thatfaces out, and shoots guests as they walk by.

This attraction is appropriate for people of all ages.
