Thankfully, things are being done to stop the killing of tigers. Laws have been passed all over the world, including in the United States, to make it illegal to sell tiger body parts.

Why Itʼs WantedIvory is prized for its: beautiful cream color, glossy texture durabilityFor many years, ivory was used to make a wide variety of items such as piano keys, jewelry, and decorative sculptures. The use of ivory is a strong cultural tradition in many countries, especially in Asia. Unfortunately, the demand for ivory has increased sharply in recent years. And with new technologies, it is increasingly easy for hunters to acquire this prized material. This has lead to the steep decline of many animal populations, including the elephant.
FAST FACTSIvory is what tusks and teeth are made of in certain animals.
Some animals that have ivory tusks include the elephant, hippopotamus, walrus, wild boar, narwhal and sperm whale.
Ivory is very strong and can be carved into intricate patterns.
Ivory SubstitutesLuckily, plastics have been invented that can easily be used as substitutes for ivory. They are just as strong and durable, and are cheaper to make. And best of all, no animals are killed.

CORAL REEFSFAST FACTSCorals are marine organisms made up of many tiny polyps. These polyps secrete calcium carbonate, which forms a hard skeletal structure on which the polyps sit. This structure, combined with the polyps, form a coral reef.
Tiny algae live inside the coral, providing it with energy. The different species of algae is what causes coral to be so colorful.
Coral thrives best in sunny, shallow, clear water, so the algae can get lots of sun.
There are over 500 species of coral.
