Timothy has now gone to the States with his mother and grandmother, and is presently staying with his uncle Howard Ganong at the Great Lakes Bible College, Lansing, Michigan. I am sending him a set of slides covering last year's work. He will be showing them to all our supporting churches. At Manenberg I am now bringing a series of expository messages on the Epistles, while at our Outreach Meetings in Lentegeur I have just started a series of lessons on the New Testament. Our Tuesday night cottage meetings in Brother Faniels home have got going this year with a series of lessons on CORINTHIANS. The Zana family of Guguletu are moving to Bel-Har, and have asked me to hold Mid-week Bible Studies and Prayer meetings with them there. Please pray for God's blessings on this new venture. Our Thursday night Bible studies in Portlands continue on the book of ACTS in the home of Brother Dunjua. Coming up at Easter time. Lord willing, are special meetings in KNYSNA, about 250 miles east of Cape Town, on the coast. The folk in Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage have already said they are planning to attend. May God richly bless you with His grace, and strengthen you in His service. Yours in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

We greet you in the name of Christ our Savior;

I have just completed a 39 page summary of Roland Allen's "Missionary Methods", and over100 pages of an Afrikaans summary of James deForest Murch's "Christians Only." Thesebooks are much needed during this critical period of missionary work in South Africawhen the natives are growing restless under the yoke of continued white domination, bothin the political and in the religious spheres. It is a time of growth, a time of reform,a time of change; and it is of course our task to make that change as smooth, and asharmonious and orderly as possible. We have long taught about indigenous, independentlocal congregations, and our churches in tlie States have long since emerged from thebondage of the UCMS. But most of our churches in South Africa are still under the controlof the MISSION in the east, and the 30 A.D. ORGANIZATION in the west, with all thedenominational trappings of Constitutions, Superintendents, Conferences, Committees andChairmen. Paul's approach to the people of his day was three-fold:

1. He proclaimed the gospel to them.2. He taught them the principles of the word of God.3. He trusted the Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth.

This is also my approach in all the places where I go, and God is blessing these efforts.

I apologize for a delay in sending the set of slides which I have compiled. I am nowsending them over to Timothy who has now moved with his mother to their own place at thefollowing address: 1715^ Babcock, Eau Claire, WI. 54703. Please contact him there if youwish to see the slides.

Franklin Visser, now laboring among the Youth in Worcester, still calls me occassionallyto discuss problems, and ask for advice on his work.

We have commenced our new Tuesday evening Bible Studies at Bel-Har. Pray that God shallbless our outreach into this community. We are studying I CORINTHIANS. Brother Jamesalso preaches on the train on his way to work, while I occassionally give lessons to theCouncil Workers at the Market while walking down to the Farmers Co-op.

Lord willing I shall be making a preaching and teaching trip to Knysna next month, and Ihave also been contacted by Brother Miles Koeberg of Graaff Reinet, where we hope tobring some lessons as well.

The Manenberg congregation continues to make progress, and have recently started a BibleSchool under the leadership of John Dunjua. Their worship services are an absolute joy, with each one taking part by way of testimony, scripture, song and prayer. My messagesthere at the moment center on the Book of HEBREWS, using the Afrikaans language. Mondaysat LENTEGEUR our studies are on The Sermon on the Mount, with discussions and questions.

On Thursdays at PORTLANDS we are continuing our studies on the Book of ACTS, with extratheological lessons on PREACHING FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT, with James and John Dunjua.

When I arrive at the Co-op in the mornings I also have the opportunity to witness to ourSecurity Guard as well as the cleaning woman, and I use my lunch hour for further study.

I wish to take this opportunity to personally thank Bryce and Judy who carry out the tasksof foirwarding agent so faithfully, as well as each of you who pray for me and support me.

Yours in tne mighty name of Christ Jesus our Lord,

It is a great joy.

Dearly beloved brethren,

to have our Brother Khota of Knysnahere in Cape Town with us after his recent trip to the TRANSKEI. He reports that23 in Transkei have given their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ and have beenbaptized into His name. It has been my privilege to meet together with Brother Fanie,Brother Dunjua, Brother Khota and other brethren for discussions on 2 CORINTHIANS,and GALATIANS, as well as studies on the RESTORATION MOVEMENT and comparative studiesbetween the missionary methods of Paul in the New Testament and those of our day.

We have recently been making concentrated efforts to make an evangelistic outreachinto the ELSIES RIVER area. This has consisted in visiting in different homes tobring the gospel message, and challenge the people to repent and commit their livesto the Lord. Many have come for prayer, but much still needs to be done.

Another area where we are now working is at BEL-HAR with midweek Bible studies, and

last week a Sunday morning service. Yesterday one of our members there celebratedher 21st birthday. It was done in the traditional way with a whole sheep being"braaied" (roasted on an open fire).

At our Monday evening OUTREACH meetings in LENTEGEUR we have been continuing ourBible Lessons on the gospel of MATTHEW., and many have said that they look forward tothese regular studies.

In the mornings, on my way to the Farmer's Co-op, I stop at the Market and talk tothe Council workers there. I have been taking them step by step through a series ofstudies on the names of the Lord Jesus Christ. They appreciate these lessons, andeven tell their families about them. My son Timothy is now working in Eau Claire, WI.If you want to see the recent slides on our work, please contact him at 1715^ Babcock.

We continue our Thursday evening studies at PORTLANDS on the book of ACTS, as well asTheological studies on "PREACHING FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT." I have now completed myAfrikaans summary of "CHRISTIANS ONLY" and am now doing it in English for translationinto XHOSA. I am also preparing a summary of THE STRATEGIC GRASP OF THE BIBLE, as wellas a summary of the Bible itself, called "THE BASIC BIBLE."

The brothers at M7\NENBERG conduct their own services on alternate Sundays, but on theSundays inbetween I am bringing messages on the Letters of PETER in Afrikaans. Iwrite the message on the blackboard during the early part of the service, whiletestimonies are being given.

Finally brethren, please pray for us. The work we are doing here is by no means easy, and often we face discouragement, disappointment, and even outright opposition. Yet,knowing Him who has called us, we don't give up? for He has promised that the one whoendures to the end shall be saved. Pray for those among whom we labor, pray for Bryceand Judy Morgan working so faithfully behind the scenes, pray for all who undergirdthis ministry with their regular prayers and support. The grace of our Lord Jesusbe with you all.

There was a time when small cries were heard in a stable in Bethlehem, when shepherdscame to honor the birth of the Good Shepherd, and Wise Men followed a star to the homeof Him who is called the Morning Star. There was also a time when the babe of Bethlehem(The House of Bread) became the Bread of Life, and a child of Nazareth (The Branch)became the Branch of Righteousness who turned the cross of death into the tree of life.My family and I pray at this time that this Christmas may be a blessed one for you andyours, and we thank you deeply for your prayers and support over the past year. As youenter into a New Year of service for Him may God go with you and His Spirit guide you.

This week we began new Wednesday evening Cottage Meetings in the Hazeldene area ofMITCHELL'S PLAIN. Our theme is the GOSPEL OF JOHN, written so that "you might believethat Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that, believing, you might have life throughhis name." The meeting was highlighted by prayers, testimonies and chorus singing, and myfirst message was on John 1:1-18.

Last week I was called on to bring a special message to the Anglican church in PORTLANDS.I spoke on the prophet HABAKKUK:- His HEARTACHE — His VISION — His PRAYER. I emphasizedthat when the scripture says the just shall live by faith, this involves a totalcommitment of our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the word of God.

Our regular Monday OUTREACH GROUP at LENTEGEUR continues with lessons on MATTHEW; butlast Monday we had an Open Service, with visitors from Portlands. I spoke on 2 WAYS,and stressed that all people have a choice between 2 ways, and only 2. We are either forthe Lord or we are against him; we are either part of the problem or part of the solution.

On Tuesday evenings we meet at MANENBERG with lessons on the Corinthian letters, as wellas studies from Roland Allen's "Missionary Methods" and DeForest Murch's "Christians Only"which I have now summarized in Afrikaans. On alternate Sunday mornings I am presentlybringing messages from John's first epistle. Last week we had a visitor from BONTEHEUWEL.

We meet at the home of James Dunjua on the 1st &' 3rd Thursday of the month with lessonson the book of Acts as well as missionary messages. He lives on Montevideo way near theMITCHELL'S PLAIN Town Center. He also brings regular Gospel messages on the peak hourtrains between MITCHELL'S PLAIN and CAPE TOWN. They even have a Gospel Train Committeewhich organizes the services in each train carriage.

I often have opportunities to bring messages to the council workers at the Epping Market, and recently spoke on, THE KINGDOM OF GOD, THE CREATION, THE FALL OF MAN, & NOAH'S FLOOD.

The work is not without its problems however. One of our ministers, Amos Fanie, went tomuch trouble and expense to rent a car and drive some 500 miles to a Convention inGRAAFF REINET. When he got there he was told by one of the missionaries, who is trying toexert authority over the churches, to "leave the meeting in the name of the Lord JesusChrist." We have also lost some brethren from BEL-HAR, but are praying they will return.

Brother Dunjua's wife recently suffered a stroke, and can hardly walk, yet she comesregularly to the services, cheerfully gives her testimony, and even makes the effort toclimb 2 flights of stairs to visit a fellov; member who is ill. That is Christian lovein action — and one of the reasons why I can still say: "ITS GREAT TO BE A MISSIONARYl"
