CUAIND301 Work effectively in the creative arts industry

CUASOU405 Record sound

CUAPPM302 Plan and prepare program content

CUASOU202 Perform basic sound editing

CUACAM301 Shoot material for screen productions

CUACAM201 Assist with a basic camera shoot

*Additional elective units can be included or substituted to meet individual learner needs.

This course provides Introductory skills for those learners who are new to the industry (or who have little or no prior experience in the creative industries) but who may have the desire to work in a community broadcasting environment. Through this course you will gain knowledge and skills in a wide range of interest areas, such as:

VIDEO EDITING: This module is a very practical module orientated towards preparing and editing to produce a short animated film. Techniques learner in these sessions will also assist in your video production phase.

VIDEO PRODUCTION: Using a professional camera in production of a short film. You will become familiar with the whole film production process from ‘idea to plan to shoot to edit’ as part of the experience.

Delivery

Location: On Campus – MacKillop Catholic College

Delivery Mode: Classroom based, or Distance Education.

Duration: 2 Semesters

Prerequisites: Nil.

Cost: $50 consumables fee. Additional fees may apply to students from other schools.

PPE: Covered shoes and long sleeve shirts will be required for outdoor shoots.

Recognition

Students who successfully completed this program will be awarded with a nationally accredited qualification. All qualifications or units of competency that make up a qualification, in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) can contribute to the completion requirements of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET). On current information and the selected units of competency in CUA31015 Certificate III in Screen and Media, the credit for a successful completion of the qualification towards the NTCET would be 70 Credits (Stage 1/2). However if a credit transfer (CT) pathway is taken utilising points accumulated through the attainment of a Certificate II qualification in the same industry, then the SACE credits would be reduced. Mackillop Catholic College will ensure that any CT pathway would accumulate a minimum of 10 SACE credits (Stage 2).
