My Observations

Barangay Caridad is a well-managed and well-occupied barangay. It’s not so far

and not so near from the town proper. It is run by a very energetic, handsome and

committed captain, Mr. Jesselton Dico. Since it is just a barangay, some of the facilities

are not present but all the essential and useful facilities for the community are present.

Caridad is an agricultural land where the basic agriculture-relevant resources are present.

The traditional and updated means of transportation are also present. I believe there are

more than one development program intended for the said barangay. It is properly and

effectively run the current barangay captain since the economy is stable; the moment you

want to have fun, you can find it; the moment you like to go somewhere else, just a blink

of an eye you find yourself at the place you want to go; etc.

My Reflections

Barangay Caridad

The School’s Community

This is the barangay hall of Barangay Caridad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. It

is where all the meetings are being conducted from time to time. The development

programs are also usually first talked here. Some of the activities are also being held here.

Thus, it is very purposeful and convenient. All the members of the community are

welcome every time they visit. The personnel are hospitable and warm-welcoming.

School-Community Collaboration

View of a Teacher

A teacher shall make himself available anywhere and anytime needed by the community in order to build harmonious correspondence with the community. A teacher should actively participate in community movement for the purpose of moral, social, educational, economic and civil betterment for both school and community. In reverse, the community shall extend services to the school for utmost progress. There should be a give and take process. Meaning, the school gives and the community takes something, and the community gives and the school takes something. Both need each other. Everybody must take part in the process so as to see clearer tomorrow.

1. Which resources that you have identified are present in the community? Can these be utilized in your teaching? How?

The resources that I have identified which are present in the community and could be utilized in the teaching-learning process are the pools, courts, book, instruments and realia. Pool could be used in my swimming class. Courts could be used if I let them play ball games as part of physical education. Musical instruments are of great use if ever school’s instruments are inadequate or lacking. Realia could be useful if something which I’d like to use for better understanding a concept.
