Well hope everyone had a great summer. I know I sure did,! I was able to do a lot of fishing with my son. It has been very unique summer with everything happening all around us. We have had to cancel all our Youth Events in trying to do our part and keeping people safe. It has given me some time to work even harder to make our 2021 Youth Events even better. We do have some exciting news about one of our Youth Outings with details to be forth coming. We are hoping to have in person meetings, so we can continue our "Cast if Forward" program. If you have any tackle, you can "Cast of Forward" and it will be given out at our Youth Events. Please stay safe and enjoy your time on the water!

VIRTUAL CLUB MEETING P A G E 5

W W W . F R V M U S K I E . C O M

THE FOX RIVER VALLEY CHAPTER PROUDLY PRESENTS CAPTAIN BEN MODICA

WENDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2020 VIRTUAL MEETING

Captain Ben Modica has been fishing for muskies since 1987; from the early 90's to present he has fished the Illinois Fox Chain of Lakes along with other lakes Including Lake St Clair and Green bay in pursuit of the elusive fish known as the Musky. In his pursuit for the Musky, Musky Fix Guide Service Ben Modica, has caught and released many trophy muskies. Ben will focus on Muskie Attitude, including water clarity and water temps! This meeting will be held via Zoom. The Zoom meeting begins at 7:00PM. Anyone can join us on this Zoom meeting. A Zoom link will be sent out to our membership via Constant Contact in advance and the link will also be posted on the FRV website as well as the FRV Facebook page!

Multispecies Contest Guidelines Our Multispecies Contest has some simple rules:

• LMB, SMB, Walleye and Northern Pike are the primary fish to enter.

• Muskies will be counted only if you have entered a true multispecies.

• Scoring is based on a formula comparing your fish to the state record for that species

• The minimum size for each species is:

• LMB – 18”

• SMB - 16”

• Walleye – 20”

• Musky – 30” Enter the contest by using the entry form on the FRV website. Enter your muskies using the Muskies Inc website – I check it frequently . You must submit a photo with your entry. Non typical multispecies are scored at ½” per inch of fish – Bluegill, Crappie, Catfish, Salmon, Trout etc.………Your best two fish per species count! Your best 5 scored fish are used for the grand total Kids Contest In an effort to get as many kids participating we give one point per inch of fish for non-typical multispecies. Last year we had catfish, trout, bluegill, crappie and a saltwater fish entered so enter all those fish your kids or grandchildren catch! Contact Info

Please call or text any question regarding the multispecies contest- Steve Behrends 630.640.4881

FROM THE MEMBERSHIP CIRCLE P A G E 6

W W W . F R V M U S K I E . C O M

FROM THE MEMBERSHIP CIRCLE… I have been thinking about what to write for this article and I don’t have a good idea or know where to start! This summer, for me like for many others has been unique to say the least. In mid- March my work place shut down and it was work at home. The wife and I avoided social contact as much as pos-sible. We wore face masks in public places (still do). We avoided hoarding toilet paper, can goods or other food items. I saw a lot of this practice at Costco and other food markets (a lack of apathy for oth-ers I guess!). I did not fish nor had the desire to fish (don’t know why). I made the decision to sell my boat of 15 years. A 2005 Tahoe Fish/Ski / 19.8/ I/O with only 318 hours. Over the years the boat went on many family vacations, besides fishing with the Tahoe, the grandkids learned to water ski and loved tubing. The Tahoe was a source of family fun for many years, but it was time to sell. I am getting older, two of the grandkids started college, and the others are in high school and they have different

interest. O well, my tale of woe! I am sharing these personal experiences, because this is a unique time in our life, which we will never forget and maybe someday have the opportunity share these experiences with our grandkids. Now on the business side of things, membership has stayed relatively steady at 237 members. Considering the fact that the Clubs has not been able to have reg-ular meetings, fishing outings or other events this is encouraging. FRV seems to have a strong core of devoted member’s helping to keep the club strong and healthy. For this I say thank you all very much. Stay Healthy, keep your membership-up, go fishing when you can and God Bless,

Frank Lucido
