Book Club The next book club meeting will be next Thursday at Margi Biggs’s home, 3427 Country Club

at 2:00. The book we will discuss is One Thousand White Women by Lim Fergus with Pam Stewart lead-

ing the discussion. This is a grabber and it seems impossible that it isn’t 100% true!

~~~Janie Ross
Upcoming reads:
August 20--My Life in France by Julia Child
September 24--Dead Wake by Erik Larson
October 22--Go Get a Watchman by Harper Lee
November 19--Nightingale by Kristin Hannen
BookShare Thank you to Sandy Rawls for hosting the July meeting and providing such a wonderful snack table.
The group discussed next year’s combined book clubs around the lake (BCAL) luncheon. Sandy Rawls
volunteered to head up the luncheon committee while Sandy Barron will be in charge of communications.
Two of the books reviewed this month were: The Book of Joan, an biography of Joan Rivers and
Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova, author of Still Alice. This book centers around a character with
Huntington’s Disease. Barbara Wright will host the next meeting on August 19th at 12315 Thoreau.
Matinee Mamas
On July 13 we had lunch at Akashi Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar where the food, service and atmosphere
was great! After lunch, we went to The Grand 14; half of our group was brave enough to see Magic
Mike XXL; needless to say, no one had any good comments about this movie! The other half saw Self/
less which is described as a drama, mystery and suspense, science fiction & fantasy. The critics hate
this movie but we enjoyed it! There was a lot of action and suspense, never a dull moment! We always
meet on the second Monday of the month. If you want to join us on August 10, please call me at 602-
316-1377. ~~~Diane Burris
