Join the Walden Ladies Association for the first luncheon of
the new LAW year along with some wonderful music from the
fifties and sixties by the talented duo of Josh and Jennifer
Teague
Josh is the minister of Worship Arts at West Conroe Baptist
Church. He and Jennifer grew up in Arkansas where they devel-
oped a love for music. They met each other through the choral
program at Arkansas Tech University. They both received a
Bachelor's degree in
Computer Science. Jennifer later received a Master's degree
in Educational Technology and will be teaching at College Park
High School this fall. Come to the luncheon and enjoy a real musical treat!
Ladies Association of Walden August 2
015
From the President- L a d i e s ,
Well, summer
is surely here
and I imagine
we all are find-
ing ways to
enjoy our-
selves, but
survive the heat. I have had
the pleasure of meeting many
new LAW members at water
aerobics which meets at our
beautiful Walden pool on
T u e s d a y s
and Thursday's from 9-10
am through Labor Day.
Dues for the upcoming
year are now due. An official
membership form is in the
Walden Newsletter and our
website, lawalden.org. The
$25 dues can be mailed to
Carol Maak at 3102 Lake Is-
land Drive or paid at our Au-
gust luncheon.
I have also been asked to
explain how much money the
club would save if members
with email would read the
LAW newsletter on their
computers or iPads. A little
bird told me that more of us
are getting techie. Please at
least give it a thought. It
took me a while to "convert".
Also, lovely photos from our
luncheons are in the -e-mail
version.
V ice-President , Pat
Reagan has put together an
outstanding list of diverse
programs for our luncheon
enjoyment. We're in for a
musical treat in August!!!
Hope to see everyone who is
in town for our first luncheon
of the year on Friday, August
7th.
Keep Cool!!
Pam Stewart

AUGUST 2015
Book Club The next book club meeting will be next Thursday at Margi Biggs’s home, 3427 Country Club
at 2:00. The book we will discuss is One Thousand White Women by Lim Fergus with Pam Stewart lead-
ing the discussion. This is a grabber and it seems impossible that it isn’t 100% true!
~~~Janie Ross
Upcoming reads:
August 20--My Life in France by Julia Child
September 24--Dead Wake by Erik Larson
October 22--Go Get a Watchman by Harper Lee
November 19--Nightingale by Kristin Hannen
BookShare Thank you to Sandy Rawls for hosting the July meeting and providing such a wonderful snack table.
The group discussed next year’s combined book clubs around the lake (BCAL) luncheon. Sandy Rawls
volunteered to head up the luncheon committee while Sandy Barron will be in charge of communications.
Two of the books reviewed this month were: The Book of Joan, an biography of Joan Rivers and
Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova, author of Still Alice. This book centers around a character with
Huntington’s Disease. Barbara Wright will host the next meeting on August 19th at 12315 Thoreau.
Matinee Mamas
On July 13 we had lunch at Akashi Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar where the food, service and atmosphere
was great! After lunch, we went to The Grand 14; half of our group was brave enough to see Magic
Mike XXL; needless to say, no one had any good comments about this movie! The other half saw Self/
less which is described as a drama, mystery and suspense, science fiction & fantasy. The critics hate
this movie but we enjoyed it! There was a lot of action and suspense, never a dull moment! We always
meet on the second Monday of the month. If you want to join us on August 10, please call me at 602-
316-1377. ~~~Diane Burris
