ANNUNCIATION SCHOOL

Annunciation would like for you to “Go Orange” and help end World Hunger. We are working very hard to support Pope Francis in

his quest to end this terrible problem. Over 124,000 children go hungry every year and New Mexico is the second worst state in the

country plagued by childhood hunger - that means one in six children attending school is hungry. We are on a mission to end this problem!

We need your help raise $4,000 to fund a Road Runner Food ank Pantry at a local school for an entire year. We are hosting several

activities at school during the coming week in hopes of reaching this goal. One thing you can do to bring awareness of this problem is to

join us in wearing orange on Thursday, September 28. If you would like to help, please bring a monetary donation to the school office.

Meet us in St. Bakhita Hall after the 9am Mass for caffeine and fellowship!

This Sunday's Gospel is a tough one to understand. How can God (the landowner) treat the f irst and last the same? Imagine yourself as one of the workers, chosen to enter the

vineyard early. Perhaps another person decides he will sleep in, and

only because his mom pesters him he gets up and goes to work. He is sent to work at the last hour of the day.

What would you say if the vineyard was the Kingdom of God?

You: "Lord, I was baptized into your church, made my first communion and my

confirmation! I went to Catholic school (religious education) all those years! And

this other guy didn't even show up to Mass until a few weeks before he died! And you're

giving him the same reward as me?!? God: H ow did you live the virtue

of justice? Did you give what is owed to me, and give help to your

neighbor in their need? You: I put in my time! The other guy just

showed up and you let him in Heaven! God: Where was your mind and heart when you were ‘putting in your time’? Did you give out of love? Or because you “had to”?

This past week, Annunciation School students looked at the virtue of

Justice. Monsignor Voorhies explained that we live Justice when we give to God his due by our love

and our worship, and we give to our neighbor his or her due by respect-

ing their rights in a balance with that of the common good. Living Justice,

then, means: to put one’s heart and one’s time together. In doing so,

your justice becomes works of mercy.
