From the FBC 4-H Team
Welcome to the 2016-2017 4-H year! Congratulations on all your achievements last year, and THANK YOU for continuing with us into a new year.
As many of you know, Fort Bend County is growing and changing, and here at Fort Bend 4-H we believe our program can’t stay behind. Even so, there are certain elements that should never change in 4-H, and we want to make sure all our families know what those are. For this reason, in all our activities and publications, the FBC 4-H team will strive to incorporate the following concepts: Belonging, Mastery, Independence and Generosity.
Below you will find a snapshot of how we are using these important elements in our program. We hope that you take advantage of these efforts and improve your own club experience as well!
Belonging: 4-H 101 Meetings, Adult Volunteer trainings, Battle of the
Clovers, clarified recognition/awards model, 4-H Connect Enrollment
Mastery: Explore 4-H project workshop series, Explore 4-H curriculum books, County 4-H Handbook, Project one-pagers, Project Coalitions
Independence: County Council, 4-H Ambassadors, Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign displays, clear leadership opportunities in newsletter
Generosity: One Day 4-H, clear service opportunities in newsletter, outreach with community organizations

4-H Enrollment: Connecting
Through 4-H CONNECT
The new 4-H year has begun and your first order of business is…enrolling in 4-H Connect! Whether you are new or returning, it is SO important for 4-H families to enroll in 4-H Connect.
Why? To be eligible to participate in 4-H events and at the Fort Bend County Fair, to serve as an adult volunteer, to receive THIS awesome
newsletter and other opportunities via e-mail, phone or snail mail…*gasp* Need we say more?
But seriously: September 9th is the last day to enroll to enter Fort Bend County Fair, and come November 1st, you will NOT receive emails or newsletters if you are not enrolled in 4-H Connect.
Did you know that Clover
Kids register for FREE?!
Enroll them to include
their Clover Kid years in
their 4-H career, to
participate at County
Roundup, and to help
their club in the Battle of
the Clovers!

The 4-H 101 Meetings are open to newly enrolled families as well as anyone just interested in learning more about 4-H. Even Club Coordinators and Adult Volunteers are welcome to attend, to learn or revisit how to market the basics of 4-H.
We’ll cover the essential elements of the 4-H experience, the opportunities for learning, leading and serving in 4-H, and how caring adults can get involved.
Join us at 7pm at the Fort Bend County Extension Office on the following Tuesdays:
