The 138th LE class will be completing Traffic Stops, DUI Traffic Stops and Traffic Crash Investigations this month. Their graduation is set for August 24th at 6 PM at Dunbar High School. David Grossi has graciously accepted the invitation to again be the guest speaker. If you missed the ceremony on June 6th this is another opportunity to hear Dave speak. After graduation we will have a few days of review and then they will take the S.O.C.E. (State Officer Certification Examination) on August 27th. The 139th LE class started July 6th. This class has 26 of 32 students sponsored by an agency. They are moving right along and will have completed Intro to Le, Legal, First Aid, Firearms, Vehicle Operations and Defensive Tactics by the end of August. The 72nd CO to LE class started July 20th and has 21 students representing 7 agencies. They will have completed Overview of Law Enforcement, Interactions in Crisis Situations and Reporting Procedures by the end of August. Everything on the Law Enforcement side is looking very good. On any given day there are 85 LE students on campus, with an additional 26 Open Enrollment students waiting to start in September. As always, stop by when you have the opportunity and tour our campus. I think that you will be impressed with our students and faculty.

We were pleased to have the 3rd Southwest Florida Jail Leadership Initiative class completed at the Academy. I want to put out a special “Thank You” to the committee from our five area Sheriff Offices that put this state of the art program together. The program they developed is now receiving national attention. Our classes are moving along well and we have a lot of recruits along with several Advanced/Specialized courses during the month of August. As a reminder, during the summer months we are moving our graduations to Dunbar High School due to the unpredictability of the summer weather patterns. Thank you again and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. Todd G. Everly, M.P.A.
