National Society for Human Rights expresses its condemnation of the insult of Qatari citizen Hamad al­Marri after his return from Hajj Sunday 1438/12/19, 2017/09/10 _

Riyadh, Dhu-AiHijjah 1_9, 1438, September 10, 2017, SPA-- The National Society for

Human Rights in the King<lom ofSaudi Arabia ex'presseg its condemnation of the

flagrant violation ofthe human rights, beating, degradation and humiliation of Qatari

citizen Hamad Abdul Hadi Al Marri after returning from Hajj and leaving the Kingdom

to Qatar wit_h filming the acts and promoting and disseminating them among all

people as these i_ndividual antj collective acts are all crimes against human rights

principles.

Tne Society said In a statement that it has followed the case of Hamad Al Marri since

the- publication of the insulting video and verified that the person appearing in the

video is t_he Q.atari citi~en Hamad Abdul Hadi Saleh.Al rvfarii, who is completed Hajj

under the prqgram of the Custodian of t_he Two Holy Mosques and left the Kingdom

ofSaudi Arabia ~fe and well in 15/12/1438 H. He entered the Kingdom of Saudi

Arabia through the S_alwa border crossing Which was opened exceptionally for the

reception of the Qatari pilgrims. His entry was on 2/12/1438 H. accordi;ng to passport

number (01332918).

The society added, "The representatives of the society tried to re_ach the victim

Hamad al-Marri to check on him, f:lut this Was impossible because of t_he closure of all

niean~ ofcommunicatio11 with him, or the possibility of locating.

We call on the National Human Rights Cpmmittee of the State Qf Qatar and all

· international hum.an rights organiJation-s to do theirdutyto ensure t_he dis.closure of

the fate of this Qatari citizen and to pr<>tect him from the attacks and violations that

have been committed against him, arid to ensure his safety and not being subjected

to pressure i:mpo_sed by certain politicai di.ctates because of his right to perform Hajj

and his right to freedom Of expression and to ensurethat all those who exploited

their political power, abuse and torture are prosecuted. We als.o call on all

institutions and institutions in Qatar to work hard to protect Ha_mad al-Marri and

prosecute those who assaulted him regardless of their positions and forced him to

film after entering the Qatari territ_ory, and to facilitate his return to his h:Ome and his

family and hls right to travel and freedom of expression a_nc:! the enjoyment of all

natural gl!a,rantees and rights guaranteed by international treaties and human rights

cQnilentions.

The society calls upon the Government of Qatar to promptly declare its innocence o-f

this crime, identify arid punish t:he aggressors, a11d grant the victim Hamad Al Marri

all fair compensations and allow him unrestricted freedom of tiioveme_nt and travel.

Based on the available data, it has been found that the attack on the Qatari citizen

Hamad AI-Marri. was directly related to hi~ appearance in t_he media, including the

Saudi news channel from the holy places, cqntrary to the offi.tj_al speech of hi_s

country's authorities, which denies the existence of Qatari pilgrims, and his

appreciation for the services received by his fellow pilgrims and facilitating their

affairs, which is contraryto the official speech of the State of Qatar.

The Nat.ional Society for H(!man Rights asserts that it will provide international

human rights organi.zations with a list of Qataris who have come to Hajj to follow up

on their situation and ensure their safety. They also call on their Qatari counterparts:

the National Human Rights Commission and all human rights associations,

organizations and ccimmitJees in the world to shoulder their legal and moral

responsibilities towards all of them and work to facilitate the procedures of the visit

and continuous comm.unication with t.hem by human rights organizations and the

media to check on them and their situation. The. society al.so confirms that it visited

the Qatari pilgrirns in their headquarters in the holy sites and confirmed their

enjoyment of all their rights, which ensured the performance of thejr .rituals with

ease.
