Tidal Power
Tidal power is generated when water from a high or low tide moves through a turbine connected to a generator producing electricity.
Tidal dams (barrages) are one form in which energy can be harnessed.

Wave Power
Wave power uses the wind and water movements across the surface of the ocean to spin turbines to power a generator and produce electricity.
Technology for harnessing the power of waves is still underdevelopment. There are several designs which are in use and others being developed.

Solar Energy
Solar energy is the most abundant energy resource.
Solar energy uses the sun’s rays to supply heat or electricity.
Passive solar collectors utilize sunlight to warm confined air.
Active solar collectors use pumps to move heated water or air
Solar collector facilities use mirrors to focus sunlight onto a collection tower which heats water to produce steam and power a turbine, powering a generator.
Photovoltaic cells convert the sun’s energy directly into electricity. Photovoltaic cells are comprised of a number of different materials.
